The Final Four - and the Most Terrifying Challenge on 'MasterChef' (VIDEO)
"This dish puts the fear of God into chefs around the world." So says Gordon Ramsay on the latest 'MasterChef' (Wed., 8PM ET on Fox). We're heading down to the Final Four on the show -- and there's only one spot left in that group. Either Sharone or Whitney will make the cut. But first, chef Ramsay wants to freak the pair out, and frighten them with their upcoming cooking challenge.Ramsay drags out the suspense for a bit. "There's nothing more terrifying," he says, then pauses for a second. " ... Than trying to create and cook ... " What?! Create what?! "Your very own ... monstrous ..." OH GOD, WHAT IS THIS AWFUL THING THAT THEY HAVE TO COOK?
[Spoiler alert.]
" ... Soufflé," Ramsay concludes. Oh, that? That's it? You mean that the tiny cake pictured above is the big horrible challenge? Ah, but soufflés are harder than they look. For one thing, the puffy deserts must be served immediately. And they have a tendency to collapse -- even a loud noise can make a soufflé fall, and then the entire dish is ruined.
Sharone and Whitney have their work cut out for them. But then, there's a bit of a problem. Whitney turns out to be kind of a perfectionist. She takes her sweet time in serving her soufflé to the judges, even though Ramsay stressed that the dish must be brought out quickly, in under 90 seconds. And worse than that -- Whitney doesn't even bother to taste the desert before serving it; so the whole thing could be awful, for all she knows.
Will Whitney's slowness be her downfall? Will Sharone be the cook chosen for the Final Four?
