by Chris Jordan, posted Sep 10th 2010 12:00PM
Watch out cancer, Hollywood is coming for you.

Dozens of actors, musicians and athletes will take part in the 'Stand Up To Cancer 2010' telethon, set to air Fri. Sept. 10 at 8PM ET simultaneously on ABC, CBS, FOX, NBC, HBO, Showtime, E! and other outlets and stream on multiple internet portals, including here.

Cancer survivors, including Christina Applegate, Maura Tierney, Michael C. Hall, Elizabeth Edwards, Ethan Zohn of 'Survivor,' Sofia Vergara and cyclist Lance Armstrong, will also stand up, and Michael Douglas, who is battling throat cancer, will appear.

Network news anchors Diane Sawyer (ABC), Brian Williams (NBC) and Katie Couric (CBS) will host the proceedings. Couric, whose husband Jay Monahan died of colon cancer in 1998, is a founding member of the Stand Up To Cancer team.

George Clooney, Gwyneth Paltrow, Will Smith, Denzel Washington, Renee Zellweger, Ryan Seacrest, Seth Rogen, Kyra Sedgwick, Jay Leno, Jane Lynch and the Simpsons are just a small sample of the celebs who will appear. Musicians including Stevie Wonder, Lady Antebellum, Leona Lewis, Billie Joe Armstrong of Green Day and Neil Diamond are among those who will perform.

Cat Deeley of FOX's 'So You Think You Can Dance' will host a pre-show starting 7:30PM ET as the celebrity phone bank opens and there will be half-hour "after hours'' show featuring musical guests Fitz and the Tantrums, Orianthi, Natasha Bedingfield and Heart. Both the pre-show and after-show will be available online, including here.

It's the second edition of the telethon as the first raised more than $100 million for cancer research in 2008. The aim of the event is to raise money for the American Association for Cancer Research to speed up innovative cancer research.

"Plain and simple, cancer takes too much from us,'' said Laura Ziskin, a Stand Up to Cancer co-founder and a breast cancer survivor, in a press release. Ziskin produced the 'Spider-Man' trilogy and 'Pretty Woman.'

"Loved ones lost to it, pain and suffering endured by those in treatment, even the recent report that cancer has the most devastating economic impact of any cause of death -- this disease exacts a very high price,'' Ziskin said

Donations can be made to the Stand Up To Cancer website or by phone.
