'Broken Lizard: Stands Up' - The "Lizard" Team Prays to the Comedy Gods (VIDEO)

Even if you've been working in the comedy world for a long, long time, having your first nationally televised stand-up special must be kind of ... stressful. The 'Broken Lizard' sketch comedy troupe has been together since they met as college students in 1990. Since then, they've released many films -- including 'Super Troopers' and 'Beerfest.' But 'Broken Lizard: Stands Up' (Sat., 12AM ET on Comedy Central) is their first TV special. And so, to open up their show, Jay Chandrasekhar and the rest of his team began with a brief, desperate prayer to the gods of comedy. Here is part of that heavenly plea: "May our jokes fly true, and hit their targets ... like God's arrows," said Erik Stolhanske. Unfortunately, the prayer sort of fell apart after this point.
" ... And may our reproductive organs be taken gently into the warm hands and wanting mouths of [our] sheep," Chandrasekhar added. "And by 'sheep,' I mean 'our adoring fans.'" Gross! Careful, guys; you don't want to offend the gods of comedy. Let's hope that the rest of their show went okay. Let us pray for it, in fact. Otherwise, it's back to the movies for the Lizard squad.
