'The Defenders' Wants to Book Dan Aykroyd and Rebecca Romijn as Guest Stars

Dan AykroydCould CBS's 'The Defenders' get the Blues Brothers back together? If producers have their way ... sort of.

The Jim Belushi legal drama has its eyes on former 'Saturday Night Live' star Dan Aykroyd. According to the Hollywood Reporter, 'Defenders' co-creator and executive producer Kevin Kennedy has been circling Aykroyd to play a tough judge that clashes with Belushi's defense attorney.

"We have a lot planned and we certainly have a dream list," Kennedy told the Hollywood Reporter. "The [guest star] we've talked about most recently, and we'll see if we can get it arranged -- it's a scheduling thing and it wouldn't happen until the end of the year if it happens this year -- we want to get Dan Aykroyd together with Jim."

Though he wasn't an original member, Jim toured with Aykroyd and the Blues Brothers during the 1990s, even appearing on a live recording of the band's. Jim's late brother, John, created the Blues Brothers with Aykroyd on 'SNL' in the late '70s.

Also on the 'Defenders' dream list? Series star Jerry O'Connell's wife, Rebecca Romijn. "That's certainly possible," Kennedy said. "We thought about her for a role early in the year then decided to save her for something better."

'Defenders' premieres Sept. 22 at 10PM on CBS.
