'Entourage' Season 7, Episode 10 - Season Finale Recap (VIDEO)
['Entourage' - 'Lose Youself']Sure, 'Lose Yourself,' the final episode of 'Entourage's' seventh season, centered on Vince's drug meltdown, and we'll get to that.
But first, let's talk about Drama. Darn it if I wasn't rooting for the suddenly self-assured Drama as he took command of the Vince intervention, forcibly separated Eric and Scott from a squabble, and even took a few knocks to the head in the Eminem-Vince fight. Go get 'em, big bro!
Last week he got his animated series, and this week he turned into John Wayne. After years of viewing the guy as either comic relief or a type of screwy Greek chorus for the show, suddenly we saw him showing purpose and drive. Here's hoping it continues.
As for Vince, he bolted from the intervention, checked himself into a room at The Roosevelt, got high and crashed an Eminem party at the hotel. Just as Drama tracked him down, he was insulting Minka Kelly at the party and was getting himself thrown out when the punch-up began. There was big trouble during the subsequent hospital visit as cops found a bag in Vince's possession containing a now-familiar white powder.
Turning to Eric, who'd reached a bit of a crossroads in his personal and professional life. Terrence McQuewick (Malcolm McDowell) wanted him to sign a pre-nup before marrying his daughter Sloan. McQuewick had been talking to Murray Berenson (George Segal) -- Sloan's godfather and Eric's boss -- and the two were worried that Eric would coast on Sloan's money once the two are married. Come to think about it about it, Eric's only two active clients seem to be Vince and Drama if you don't count Bob Saget. Hmm, sounds like Terence has a point. ... Anyway, Eric was upset and wanted in on Scott's takeover of Murray Berenson Co.
The Turtle-tequila plotline meandered to an unsatisfactory non-conclusion in this last episode. Turtle hustled his celeb and athlete friends -- including baseball's Ryan Howard and football's Drew Brees -- for bucks to invest in Carlos's tequila factory to no avail, but he still has Mark Cuban on board for $5 million. Yet Carlos now needs $20 million to buy out his brother instead of the initial $5 million to upgrade the factory. We have to admit this is all getting a little frustrating at this point. Tell us this is a big scam by Carlos and then we'll be interested.
Finally, Mrs. Ari wanted out of the picture: "I need some space,'' she said.
This came after Ari's restaurant meltdown last week and a visit from her sister (Illeana Douglas), in this episode. After seven seasons, Mrs. Ari needs a break, even after Ari hired Christina Aguilera to sing at her surprise 40th birthday party. Ari's new pal John Cleese was there, too.
We bet Mrs. Ari would like nothing better than a quiet dinner home with Ari. We'll see if time heals this wound when the eighth season comes around next summer.
Quick edits:
Fight plan -- The Vince-Eminem fight was well-staged and true to real-life hip-hop fights. Rapper threw a punch, then his bodyguards jumped.
Where's Lloyd? -- No sign of him on the season finale.
Season eight -- It will be 'Entourage's' last and it will only be six episodes long, according to HBO executives.
Outro music -- 'Going Through Changes' by Eminem with Ozzy Osbourne.
'Entourage' Season 8 premieres summer 2011 on HBO.
