garth brooksThe prayers of Garth Brooks fans have been answered -- according to the Hollywood Reporter, one of his best-loved songs has become the inspiration for a Lifetime movie.

Based on 1990's 'Unanswered Prayers,' the country star's No. 1 hit about a married man who runs into an old high school flame and realizes that she "wasn't quite the angel that I remembered," the cable network has cast Eric Close ('Without a Trace') and Samantha Mathis ('The American President') as the married couple and Madchen Amick ('Twin Peaks') as the one who got away.

"Through his music, Garth Brooks is one of the greatest American storytellers ever, and we couldn't be more excited to be working with him," said Tanya Lopez, senior vice president of original movies at Lifetime. "The huge popularity of 'Unanswered Prayers' is proof his work touches so many people."

The two-hour movie will be shot on location in Virginia and is slated to air in November.

There are soooo many songs that would make good movies! Jimmy Deans "Big Bad John" would be great! I can see Dwayne'The Rock'Johnson in the lead!

Vicki, on an even MORE somber note than that, possibly a semi-documentary about Lorrie Morgan, and "If You Came Back From Heaven". Ughh, maybe that would be too sad.

I had the opportunity to see Garth in Denver at his first headline show, for a policeman's benefit. Steve Wariner was the headliner, but after the first night he gave the honor to Garth. Saw him several times and always a great show. In Much Too Young he mentions a "worn out tape by Chris LeDoux" and although immensely popular, it brought Chris to the forefront of country music, and to the mainstream, non-rodeo crowd. God Bless them both for their contributions and for keeping the music alive!

Yes! Fancy would make a great movie, but it was sung by Bobbie Gentry first. I love both versions and have the original album (Bobbie Gentry) and cd (Reba). I know I'm telling you all something you already knew, but I always liked the song and Reba did a nice video for it.

I think Johnny Cash's "One Piece At A Time", would make a hilarious movie! Seriously, if you worked in a big auto plant, and had access to all those parts, wouldn't YOU be tempted to steal a new car(s) one piece at a time?

Excellent idea, Jeb! Always got a kick out of that song. On a more somber note, George Jones' He Stopped Loving Her Today.

did garth ever write a song on his own? I mean without pro songwriters in nashville helping him and giving him credit for coming up with one line in a verse...you know, like all the top 40 "country" stars do...keith, mcgraw, chesney, adkins....tune into sirius satt ch 63 outlaw country and hear what nashville wont play...you'll never listen to terrestial radio again...it sickens me...

Garth Brooks has always given credit to Chris LeDoux and even mentioned him in songs. On a personal note, my son worked for a music distribution company in Woodland CA when Garth was at the top of the charts. One afternoon Garth showed up unannounced. He was playing a venue in Sacramento and decided to stop by the warehouse (more than 20 miles out of his way). He posed for pictures, signed autographs, shook hands and thanked the employees for their help in getting his music to the public. My son, who was not a country music fan (and didn't even know who he was at the time) was nonetheless impressed with his genuine, gracious, and friendly demeanor.

It is no secret that Garth patterned his live show after Chris's. Garth freely admits it and heaps all praise on Chris for having been such a great entertainer. And TM - the reason Chris isn't still making music is that he died from liver cancer several years ago, although his music lives on and many of us still miss him deeply.
