Taylor Swift Sings New Song at VMAs 2010 About Feud With Kanye (VIDEO)
The whole world remembers what took place at last year's 'MTV Video Music Awards.' You do remember, right? While singer Taylor Swift was accepting the award for "Best Female Video," Kanye West crashed the stage. He then interrupted her speech with the now-infamous words, "Taylor ... I'mma let you finish, but Beyoncé had one of the best videos of all time!!!" Well, it's been 365 days since then, and we're still dealing with the fallout from that little incident.Taylor Swift certainly recalls what happened. And on this year's 'VMAs' (Sun., 6PM ET on MTV), she addressed the controversy with a premiere performance of a song from her upcoming album.
The song was called 'Innocent,' and it contained these lyrics: "Thirty-two and still growing up now/ Who you are is not what you did/ You're still an innocent." This was a clear reference to the whole Kanye-related feud, since Mr. West was a 32-year-old when he grabbed the microphone from Taylor and ruined her acceptance speech. With her performance, Swift seemed to absolve West of responsibility for his misdeed.
Okay! So that pretty much takes care of that, right? Taylor has forgiven Kanye, so we must be done with this scandal now. Or so one would think. ... Because Kanye also debuted a song at last night's 'Video Music Awards.' But while Swift's song was humble and conciliatory, West chose to go in a slightly different direction.
His rap was pretty aggressive -- and fairly non-humble. The new song 'Runaway' featured these words near the beginning: "I'm so gifted and fine." Kayne also made the following declaration: "Let's have a toast for the scumbags." Hmm. Could he have been referring to himself with this? (Yes; he definitely was.) So that's ... very interesting! However, to help balance this out, Kanye also rapped that people have been putting up with him for "way too long."
Still, it seems that Kanye is not quite done with courting controversy. At the very least, he's willing to stand up for his "scumbag-ish" behavior in musical form. Let us know: What are your feelings about all of this? Are we finished with the Swift/West fight yet? Or it is going to go on and on forever? And whose act did you prefer -- Taylor's or Kanye's?
