Robert Rodriguez Directs an Episode of 'The Soup' (VIDEO)

'Machete' director Robert Rodriguez helms an episode of 'The Soup' (Fri, 10PM ET on E!), but is fired by host Joel McHale after his teleprompter goes blank.

At first, Rodriguez defends himself by complaining about the show's paltry budget, most of which was spent on a spiffy graphic of McHale, but then he begs to be rehired as director by offering the host a part in a 'Machete' sequel.

"Joel, please reconsider and I'll put you in my sequel to 'Machete.' It's called 'Toenail Clippers.' It's about a guy who kills people with toenail clippers! And don't say it's not better than what you're doing now, because, well, look at you," said Rodriguez.
