Blake Lively Embraces a Different Role in 'The Town' (VIDEO)

Blake Lively's role as a 37-year-old drug-dealing mother in the crime thriller 'The Town' couldn't be further removed from her stint on 'Gossip Girl.' And, she said on 'Live With Regis and Kelly' (weekdays, syndicated), that was precisely the idea."It was a very, very different role," Lively said. "It was a huge challenge, but the cast I got to work with was unbelievable and I hope people don't recognize me. That was the goal."
But, according to Lively, she almost didn't get the part. It was only after fooling director/actor Ben Affleck with an adopted Boston accent that she was considered for the role. "I begged to meet with [Affleck]." she said. "They wouldn't meet with me ... So, I took a five-hour train ride [to Boston], five-hour train ride back for 10 minutes with him. And, after my reading, he said, 'So, what part of Boston are you from?' He had no idea about any work I'd ever done, which was great, because he was able to see me as that."
