Clickable: Strange 'Saved By The Bell' Subtitles

The early '90s was a simpler time. A misogynist jock could lovingly call his feminist girlfriend, "Mama." A call placed on an oversized cellphone could solve any problem. And over-the-counter caffeine pills were the scariest drug suburban parents had to worry about (hint: if your daughter compulsively sings "I'm so excited! I'm so excited ... I'm so scared!" -- she's addicted).

In hindsight, many things that we took for granted on the adolescent staple 'Saved By The Bell' now seem messed up. Were the producers trying to slip their hidden agendas into our young minds or if they really were that clueless back then? Either way, it's fun to look back and laugh.

The Tumblr blog LOL Slater is dedicated to collecting screen-shots of the most head-scratching moments from the show. It's amazing how much a single frame and subtitle can get across.
Some are offensive, some inappropriate and others just plain weird. Buzzfeed has collected some of their favorites from LOL Slater and we have a some of our picks below as well.

lol I remember that episode when Jessie found out here ancestors were slave shippers. She was like OH NOOOOO! I can't believe it!!!! D: LOL Even funnier when she chase Lisa around, trying to make up for it! And now we got black people trying to get compensation for slavery! LOL Too funny! Still makes me laugh.

regardless of who wrote this article, or WHY, i don't think it matters...because the screen grabs and subtitles just really aren't that funny. waste of time.

Saved By The Bell is a product from an era of which television rapidly began suffering in quality. The author of this article states, "The early 90's were a simpler time." Give me a freaking break! I grew up in the D.C. area in the 50's and
60's. This was great clean television even dur-
ing the 80's and 90's. Get a life! Life is
too short to being trashing the comedy of a
bygone era. Compared to what is on today...
please bring back the good old days.
