Ryan Reynolds on Being 'Buried' Alive on 'Today' (VIDEO)

by Donald Deane, posted Sep 17th 2010 1:30PM
In 'Buried,' Ryan Reynolds plays a U.S. contractor buried alive inside a coffin while in Iraq. Reynolds said on 'Today' (weekdays, 7AM ET on NBC) that he chose the role based upon his reaction to the frightening script.

"I read the script and it was probably the most terrifying script I've ever read, not because anyone was chasing me or some big special effects. It was just one guy in a coffin. We never leave the coffin and you can't help but think, 'What would I do?' I just thought it was incredible," Reynolds said.

But the filming of the movie wasn't without its perils. Reynolds said he suffered a few minor injuries by rubbing hair off his head on the back of the coffin, and by burning his fingers on a lighter. "I emerged skinless from the coffin by the end," he joked. "But that stuff was really, you know, all spoils of war."
