News Roundup: Katie Couric Wants to Join 'Dancing With the Stars' and More

Katie CouricKatie Couric wants to dance! Yes, that's right, the CBS News anchor would love to cha cha cha all over your TV screen as a part of 'Dancing With the Stars.'

"My secret fantasy, sadly, is to be on 'Dancing With the Stars,'" Couric told UsMagazine.com. So, what's holding her back? You know, besides her nightly anchoring duties? "Those skimpy outfits!"

'Dancing With the Stars' season 11 premieres tonight at 8PM on ABC.

In other TV news ...

ABC's reality series 'Obese' has been given a second season -- prior to its series premiere -- and a new name: 'Extreme Makeover: Weight Loss Edition.' The first season is set to debut midseason -- possibly March. Each episode of the series follows a participant for an entire year. [Variety]

After 10 seasons, 'Last Call with Carson Daly' is getting a makeover. When the late night show returns on Sept. 20, it will have live performances, behind-the-scenes segments and features on emerging artists. [Reuters]

Showtime has picked up a thriller from '24' producers Howard Gordon and Alex Gansa. The series, 'Homeland,' focuses on a U.S. solider who was recently found after being presumed dead in Iraq 10 years ago. The solider heads home and soon questions come up about whether he really was wartime POW or a secret member of a sleeper cell. [Hollywood Reporter]

The TV version of 'True Lies' has found a home at ABC. The network has ordered a script with a penalty in place. [Hollywood Reporter]
