'Rules of Engagement' -- Sex With the Surrogate (VIDEO)

'Rules of Engagement' -- Sex With the SurrogateHaving a baby can be harder than it looks. Or at least, the process can be difficult in sitcoms and comedies that focus on how hard it is to have a baby. For instance, there's 'Rules of Engagement' (Mon., 8:30PM ET on CBS). The show began its fifth season tonight, and Jeff and Audrey Bingham (played by Patrick Warburton and Megyn Price) are attempting to have a kid of their own. They're looking into adoption, fertility treatments, and finding a surrogate mother.

Pam (guest star Jaime Pressly) is the couple's first choice as their potential surrogate. But that's before she runs into Russell (David Spade, playing the traditional "David Spade as a horny jerk" character). Russell tries to seduce Pam as soon as she leaves the Binghams' apartment. Not good.

Jeff instantly catches on to Russell's none-too-subtle plan to sleep with the surrogate mother, and is horrified -- he doesn't want his single friend, um, fouling up the works, so to speak. He calls his pal on the phone, but only manages to reach Russell's voicemail, and tries to stop the seduction as it is taking place: "Do not touch her. Stay off. GET OFF HER!" he screams.

Will Jeff stop his friend in time? And is it even a good idea for the Binghams to have a kid, or will that mean instant doom for the sitcom? Megyn Price has already stated in an interview that she's not into the idea of her character having a child, adding that she's never seen a baby really "work" on TV. What do you guys think? Does baby + sitcom = no longer funny?
