Cathy Plays the Cancer Card on a Line Cutter in 'The Big C' (VIDEO)

'The Big C' - 'Blue-Eyed Iris'Sometimes people are so arrogant and rude you almost don't know what to say. Especially when they wrap it up in kind words, as a woman did to Cathy (Laura Linney) on 'The Big C' (Mon., 10:30PM on SHO). While waiting in line at a home and garden store reading a magazine, another woman swooped in front of Cathy as soon as the previous customer was done.

When Cathy confronted her about it, the woman said, ""I'm a little pressed for time. Do you mind if I just pay for my stuff real quick and be on my way." She then tacked on the single word that digs into our souls and brings out the nasty more than any other. "Thanks," with a smile like you've done them a solid of your own choosing.

It's one thing to be a jerk, but quite another to do it under the guise of being a sweet person. Just own it and be it. "I don't care if you were here first. I'm here now, so just deal with it!" Or something like that.

But Cathy had the best response possible, so she started setting her stuff on the counter. When confronted, she responded with, "Sorry. I'm a little pressed for time, too. I have cancer. So would you mind getting your s*** off the counter so I can buy my irises and plant them before I die." Now, don't forget the sweet smile and the closing, "Thanks!"

At least Cathy is starting to open up to more people about her cancer. That's a good thing. There aren't a lot of upsides to Cathy's situation, but she's found a newfound sense of confidence and self-worth. In a way, she's living now more than she ever did before her diagnosis.
