'American Idol' Judges Announced: Jennifer Lopez, Steven Tyler and Randy Jackson

American Idol judgesThese are your 'American Idol' judges: Randy Jackson, Jennifer Lopez and Steven Tyler.

Host Ryan Seacrest announced the news in a press conference that streamed live at americanidol.com.

The official confirmation ends weeks of speculation about the judges' line-up. Recent rumors surfaced that Lopez had signed a deal, while Tyler's participation was reported by friends and bandmates of the Aerosmith singer.

Watch the announcement:

"I call 'Idol' season 10 'The Remix,' baby!" said Jackson, the only remaining original judge.

During the press conference, Tyler entered the stage first and called 'Idol' the "perfect feathered nest." "It's being part of smething much bigger than yourself," he told Seacrest when asked why he decided to come on board. "I want to bring some rock to this rollercoaster."

Lopez, glad in a sparkling jumpsuit, came out next from underneath the stage in a cloud of swirling dry ice. The "total package, the triple threat," as Seacrest called her, said she was excited to be there. "You have to just concentrate on the moment as best you can. Just live. It's your moment."

She added that she's "looking for the next Michael Jackson."

The new line-up brings big changes to 'American Idol.' Gone are original judges Simon Cowell and Paula Abdul. Gone are more recent additions, Ellen DeGeneres and Kara DioGuardi.

In their place are two music superstars. "Every kid is trying to be them," Jackson said.

Backstage, Lopez told TMZ, "What we will bring is the experience of trying to make it in this business, and achieving a level of success. "

But whether the addition of Lopez and Tyler can rejuvenate the reality series remains to be seen. While 'American Idol' remains TV's biggest show, last season lost 9 percent of viewers, and industry experts aren't sure the show can survive without the acerbic, but popular Cowell. "It's going to be very difficult to replace him and expect the same ratings as last year," Horizon Media's Brad Adgate told USA Today.

I stopped watching Idol long before Simon "finally" left the show, because I hated watching the arrogant, crude man strip the dignity of the contestants. In my opinion anyone who appears on any "show" deserves to be treated with dignity, if for no other reason than to preserve the image of the show. Who would want to be a part of any show which would degrade and embarrass those who come to compete. The change in "judges" has done little to cause me to want to watch the show again. They seem to be poorly chosen, and hired only for the possibility that they have a "following". To succeed, this show needs to get down to the basics of finding talented "idols" in a serious way.

Donot be so quick to judge the new judges for American Idol. Give them a chance to show their own personalities and wisdom. Yes, Simon Cowell will be a tough act to follow, but I believe giving other talented people a chance. Who knows? The new judges may be better than the former judges. It remains to be seen. The jury is out.

I think this show might just be a good one, yeah Steven Tyler is getting up there and very hard to look at but Randy will keep the show going and I believe Jennifer will too. At least I will give it a few weeks to see how it goes.

Congratulations to the producers of American Idol! The former Judges are now gone it is time to bring on new Judges who are talented and know what it takes to bring a new talent forward .
Randy is a charming gentleman who also brings a feeling of continuity of passed years and Jlo and Steven bring a sense of newness that will bring a new excitement to future shows. These negative comments are by people without any knowledge of show business and if they would learn to speak english people might take their comments seriously. The show will continue to succeed because it allows singers a platform to display their voices which would never be available to them on their own! Jlo has a great style and will lend her experience to the new performers and give them the direction to succeed!
Steven has the experience of performing so these new artists will listen to his direction to improve!

I feel sorry for Randy being stuck with Jennifer Lopez & Stephen Tyler. I thought Idol was dying when we lost Paula & they took that Kara whoever the hell she was ... I liked Ellen, but she was smart enough to get out when Simon left. Now it's just Randy & these are the best Idol replacements they could come up with? Seriously. Someone seriously wants the Idol series to die & mark my word this will be THE VERY LAST season of Idol. I certainly won't be watching ANY of these next season's shows or contestants, no matter how much I might like Randy Jackson & Ryan Seacrest. WHAT A CROCK OF CRAP!

I absolutely won't watch with those two. Jenny from the Block can't sing, and she bombs as an actress. Steven Tyler appears embalmed. No fun without Paula, Simon and Randy. Time to move on, this show is d o n e!
