Although we think of David Letterman as being fairly "young at heart," we must admit that he's something of an elder statesman -- at least where talk show stars are concerned. Dave began his late night hosting career in 1982 -- long before the advent of, say, "Twitter," or even "The Internet."

And so it seems somewhat unfair that he has to grapple with the very recent concept of "Snooki," and then figure out what the phrase "GTL" means. But that's what happens on the new 'Late Show' (11:35PM ET on CBS).

Dave meets up with 'Jersey Shore' starlet Nicole "Snooki" Polizzi, and learns about the various facets of her life. For example:

1) When she wakes up. (Noon.)

2) The point in the day when she starts drinking. (8PM.)

3) The meaning of "GTL." (Which we've already provided for you in the link above -- and if you don't know what it means, then, honestly, you're probably not so interested in Snooki or 'Jersey Shore' to begin with, which is a potentially good call.)

Snooki then does a "fist-pump" with Dave and his sidekick Paul Shaffer -- who she adorably calls 'DJ Pauly S.' Okay, we must admit that this is fairly charming and self-referential on Snooki's part, since about 50 percent of the people in her world are known as "DJ Something or Other." In addition, Dave seems fairly befuddled by the whole "fist-pump" concept, which is likewise cute.

Basically what we're saying here is this: Oh, Snooki, we just can't stay mad at you! Although the fact that you start getting drunk at 8PM doesn't bode well for you, or for your recent attempts to stay out of legal trouble.
