Stephen Colbert Can't Convince Google CEO Eric Schmidt to Be Even a Little Bit Evil (VIDEO)

Google has a famously unusual company motto: "Don't be evil." Stephen Colbert had the company's CEO Eric Schmidt as a special guest on 'The Colbert Report' (Weeknights, 11:30PM on COM) to talk about this motto and try to understand how it is to live under such a strict and stifling philosophy as an American company."You'd never be evil?" Colbert asked him. "Not even a little bit?"
But Schmidt stood by his company motto. "The company was found on the basic principal not to be evil and to do the right thing to make the world a better place," he explained. "It's our principal we operate the company by it."
As a practical application of this principal, Google is working to make it possible for people to find out what kind of information the company has on them, such as search history and trends, and even delete a lot of it to protect their privacy. The company has come under fire in recent years for the large volume of data it collects and stores on individuals.
Since he couldn't convince Schmidt to consider the dark side, Colbert resorted to what all laymen do when they find themselves in a room with someone who works in computers. He asked for tech support. "Could you help me erase my browser history?" he asked.
