Jon Stewart to Bill O'Reilly: 'I Thought (Obama) Would Do a Better Job' (VIDEO)

by Jeremy Taylor, posted Sep 23rd 2010 12:24AM
Jon Stewart made his much-anticipated return to 'The O'Reilly Factor' (weekdays, 8PM ET on Fox News) on Wednesday. Bill O'Reilly welcomed Stewart without the normal pleasantries so he could get right to Stewart's opinions on President Obama.

"Do you, Jon Stewart, have Obama remorse?" O'Reilly wondered.

"I think people feel a disappointment in that there was a sense that 'Oh Jesus will walk on water,' and now you're looking at it like 'Look at that, he's just treading water,' Stewart responded.

O'Reilly pressed further, and Stewart got blunter:

"I thought he'd do a better job."

And then:

"I've been saddened to see that someone who ran on the idea that you can't expect to get different results with the same people and the same system has kept in place so much of the same system," Stewart explained.

However, Stewart did say he would still vote for Obama, if he could do the election over again.

We will never have good government until we get religion out of politics. The current crop of politicians are almost all Christians who believe they were born in sin and someone else died for sins they commit in this life time.
FAITH and truth arenot compatible and these guys prove it,
Most of America's citizens are Christian. The CEO's of the wall street gang who lied to congress are probably Christian.
FAITH and truth are not compatible.

Larry, politics was a lot cleaner when religion was involved. They had a definitive set of guide lines they followed and values they lived by. Now, with next to no religion - except when some of them see some political gain out of it (pelosi, obama) - they bend and twist and in the end set their own guide lines and values. This is what destroyed the democrat party in the 1960s and 70s. How can they stand up for their beliefs when they believe in nothing?

jacqueline, posted Sep 23rd 2010 < Most of your comments are correct, but clinton did not hand over a surplus to Bush. His surplus was based on tax revenues thru 2010 - that's this year - with spending remaining status quo. That is, no increase in intel and military spending for ten years after he left office. Bush pretty much whipped thru any on hand cash when he was forced to rebuilt our intel and military after years of neglect and cutbacks under clinton. The one thing clinton did do that you don't mention is cut welfare. He made most welfare recipients get a job. He even supplied most of those jobs for them. If you ever find it necessary to go to any government office in your area, you will see these employees sitting around gossiping, doing their nails, occasionally carrying one or two sheets of paper from one desk to another. It is no longer "corporate welfare" or just "welfare" it is now "government welfare" and has been expanded by the current administration. Of the stimuless jobs "saved or created" obama has overseen a 70% increase in federal jobs while the private sector has increased less than 15%. Guess who pays for all those government jobs!

Again, read my previous comment. Let the disembodied sprirts of
Republican past look at you and do you have shame for supporting
people these luminaries could beat in a debating match with a
crippling fever.

Also, so there is no accusations that the "pseudo-Right (they are not
real Republicans) aim at Obama, remember this announcement from
Serling at the end of "He's Alive" from the Twilight Zone

Closing Narration
Narrator: "Where will he go next, this phantom from another time, this
resurrected ghost of a previous nightmare--Chicago; Los Angeles;
Miami, Florida; Vincennes, Indiana; Syracuse, New York? Anyplace,
everyplace, where there's hate, where there's prejudice, where there's
bigotry. He's alive. He's alive so long as these evils exist. Remember
that when he comes to your town. Remember it when you hear his voice
speaking out through others. Remember it when you hear a name called,
a minority attacked, any blind, unreasoning assault on a people or any
human being. He's alive because through these things we keep him
alive."

How much would more have been accomplished had not the Republicans filibustered many of the bills? The good think about this coming November when the Republicans win the House and probably the Senate will be that if nothing changes, they will lose control in 2012.
If things do change for the better, the Republicans will keep control and Obama will be re-elected. I know sounds just like what happened with Bill Clinton.

jaggok Democrats and an un-filibusterable majority in BOTH houses of Congress. If all democrats really wanted things to move along they would all vote together instead of looking for republican votes to pass something

Nuisance and irony is lost on this group. They need policy in itty-bitty bite size sounds bits, for example: "Mission Accomplished" is used to describe a war that continues for another four years. "You're either with us or against us" is used to outline a complex foreign policy with sovereign nations that have been key allies in said war. And my favorite, Wanted Dead or Alive. When a president doesn't keep it simple...sh*t gets way too complicated for the masses.

To Tim Bowles - facts are NOT your strength so here are just a few to consider:

1. Ronald Regan was the first president to appoint a "czar." It was a termed used to describe a non-cabinet level advisor to the president. The first czar Regan appointed was put in charge of the war on drugs.

2. Nancy Pelosi DID NOT give Congress 24 hours to read the new health care law. Congress worked on the law for months. It was posted on the internet for THE PUBLIC to read so that you would not have to go to your neighborhood town hall meeting to get facts.

3. The $13 trillion dollars in debt...debt accumulated to save jobs...you remember the 750 thousand jobs we were losing monthly? This debt is not more than the last 3 administrations combined. There was a budget surplus when Clinton left office. The deficit returned under the Bush administration. The cost of wars aint cheap. But wait, technically you're right. The $13 trillion in debt is more than the last 3 administrations. It was just ACCUMULATED under the last TWO. Bush created debt that lost jobs. Obama created debt to create jobs. That bas*ard.

4. The brave men and women serving in Iraq are coming home and the focus is shifting to Afghanistan...I'm sure the president has had disagreements with his advisors on how to handle that war. The industrial war complex that screwed up Iraq, the Haliburtons of the world and the Blackwater azzholes can't be allowed to continue.

5. The administration did not take over the auto industry. We loaned them money, and lots of it to keep the industry from going under and in exchange the pubic received an equity stake in the companies. Thousands of jobs were saved, the loans are being repaid and the American public made money on the interest. A few execs who nearly killed the entire US auto industry flew to Washington in private jets to ask for a bailout lost their jobs....what an azzhole.

I could continue because just about your entire blog was full of errors but it won't make a difference. The deficit and unemployment are too high and we have to blame someone, even if it's the guy trying to fix it.

What kind of adult is that moron Jon Stewart to admit that the he's disappointed that the recovery is taking longer than he expected and is costing more way too much??!!!! It kinda reminds me of the time my car was making a death rattle and scared the sh*t outta me. Took it to the mechanic and it ended up costing me twice as much as I wanted to spend and he took way too long to get it back to me (azzhole). But I digress, 'cause I'm sure that has only happen to meeeee! We should have listened to John McCain in 2008 when he proclaimed that the fundamentals of the American economy were strong. At the time, the gas prices in my neighborhood were at $4.50 a gallon (an illusion). We were not losing jobs (paychecks to American families) at the rate of 750 THOUSAND a month (just a horrible bias of the liberal media). AIG and the rest of Wall Street should have been allowed to act unfettered and without oversight (because they were getting it SO right). The near collapse of the G-8 economies like the UK, Germany, France, Spain, etc. (not to mention poor Iceland), f-em. The fundamentals were sound. Hell, that little temporary dip that hit the Dow Jones in 2008...another illusion, it wasn't real.

Me. I'm gonna be the first in line this November to lead the charge to put Republicans back in charge because at least when they screw you in the azz they make you like it! We CAN NOT afford tax cuts for 98% of working Americans. Hell, where would the money come from for the Bush tax cuts for the 2% of business owners that create all the jobs for this country, you know, those wealth econ-friendly hedge fund managers and off shore S-corps that are worth billions? I will gladly sacrifice my tax cut for the greater good of the wealthy (just like that socialist-commie loving Obama advocates). And last but not least, health coverage for children and the poor MUST GO. What kinda country is THIS????!!!!! I want my taxes hidden and unseen. Let those bast*rds go back to using the emergency rooms, it's cheaper, it keeps costs low and most importantly, it allows insurance companies to offer a reasonable product and a reasonable rate.

adgirl, since you like facts, here's some more for you. We are now 12 trillion in debt, that's moer debt than the previous THREE administration put together. He was the first to appoint czars instead of appointments to be approved by congress. He promised to have healthcare reform publically televised on CSPAN multiple times until the time came. Then he froze out all coverage and kept it behind closed doors. Pelosi even said we need to pass it to see what's in it...??? huh? She posted the bill on the internet and gave congress 1 night to review thousands of pages, and OBAMA signed it into law, with most of America, over 60%, saying don't do it, we don't want it. Yeah, that's the most transparent administration ever, in Obama's words. 3 of his appointments were tax frauds, several were avowed communists, he attended a racists black liberation movement church, which ,if you're a jew or white, that means they hate you. With a plea from his top general in Afghanistan begging for more troops, he dithered for months while troops got killed, and still didn't deliver the number that his expert, in the field, asked for. He's the first president ever to take over private industry, and even fire private executives, sorry, but that's communism. When does the gov. have the right to own private industry??? Unemployment is still close to 10%, and yet he wants to raise taxes. He refused help in the gulf from other countries with skimmers, and dithered and did nothing for months. He said publically we should be out of Iraq and fully committed to Afghanistan, and privately fought with his advisors about pulling out of Afghanistan? So what is his mission for his troops while our boys continue to die? It's a fact under Bush, the market hit all time highs never seen before, and under Obama's policies, it has lowest in decades. And he stands before America and says Republicans are blocking his legislation...How do you do that when democrats control the house and Senate??? What a load of crap for the ignorant that can't think.

Lets be real here
The economic problems with the country stemmed from the Freddie Mac debacle. Begun by Clinton and headed still by democrats.
The banks were forced to loan money to people that had no hope or desire to pay for them as they were going to "flip" them
As a consequence certain individuals were buying several houses to be constructed at one time. Boosting the economy in to the stratosphere. Under the last administration with the exception of the last 18 months EVERYBODY made money, had jobs, had retirement savings.
When the housing bubble burst, people walked away from the debts leaving many that were honest and hard working holding the bag.
Like it or not that held more weight than even the war.
The reality is that people that HAVE MONEY SPEND MONEY AND HIRE PEOPLE. When things started to slide I let my staff go so I could pay my bills and my mortgage.
This administration has been all about "sticking it too the rich folks" and in return has created a class system as I have never seen.
The Republicnas repeated asked for things to go into the Health Care Bill and they were shut out completely. Who is the party of no?
The Republicans asked that the stimulous money get cut, they were told no
There has to be check and balances and currently there is none.
Obama as president was ill equipped for the task at hand and preceeded to put the same corrupt people in charge. Change?
He is a president of all the people but listens to only his party.

Many repubs voted against the stimulus bill at the outset. Remember ? Then they were allowed to insert pork barrel projects into the bill. THEN the bill got passed ! All it took was bribery. Republicans LOVE bribery. They simply call it by different names. Just like campaign contributions...bribery with 14 extra letters !

Pet: Freddie Mac is the cause of the economic debacle, REALLY? It had nothing to do with the banks and mortgage companies trading worthless paper and musical chairs with bad debt? It had nothing to do with these same companies betting against the bad debt (the derivative market) and making even more money on the bad debt?

How about the fact that TARP money was authorized in September 2008 by Bush to help pull the economy out of the toilet, two months before Obama was elected and another two months before he took office.

I remember the key amendment Republicans wanted to add to health care. They wanted to place cap on medical malpractice awards. If your negligence kills a patient it'll only cost you $50k. If you leave a sponge inside a patient, what's the real harm if they manage to survive?

This administration CREATED a class system. Yeah, that's true. I remember the inclusive, warm and fuzzy days of the Regan administration. Remember the trickle down theory of creating wealth at the top and the rest of us would benefit? Or how about Bush's tax cuts for the wealth 2% -- those job creators? The tax cuts haven't expired so where the f*ck are the jobs that are being created?????? Or did everyone do what you did? Fired their staff to pay their bills?????
