'Survivor: Nicaragua' -- A Crazily Homophobic Speech Gets a Player Ejected (VIDEO)

'Survivor: Nicaragua' -- A Crazily Homophobic Speech Gets a Player EjectedIf we've learned anything in this life, it's that "telling it like it is" is almost always a bad idea. Especially on a competitive reality TV show, where your essential goal is to not offend everyone around you. But a couple of contestants on 'Survivor: Nicaragua' (Wed., 8PM ET on CBS) haven't managed to learn this lesson yet.

[Warning: Spoiler alert.]

On this season's first episode, Wendy was the first player booted off the show, after she committed the cardinal sin of talking way too much. And go figure -- the same thing happened again tonight. Right before the Tribal Council held their vote, team La Flor member Shannon decided to start yapping about his personal thoughts. This might have worked out okay ... if it wasn't for the fact that Shannon is a horrible bigot.

"I'm the type of person, when I am upset ... I'll speak my mind," Shannon said. No, dude, no! Don't do that. It's a terrible idea. But Shannon was unstoppable. He chose to pick a fight with Sash, saying, "Hey, I'mma get this out of the way right now. Are you gay?" Uh-oh. The other players looked instantly horrified, and started rolling their eyes and shaking their heads.

And Shannon wasn't even finished! He then attacked Sash's hometown, and declared that "New York's full of a bunch of gay people." At this point, Shannon's alliance-mate Jud/Fabio broke in, trying to contain the damage: "Be quiet, dude!" But it was too late. Even normally poker-faced host Jeff Probst couldn't hide his disgust with Shannon's comments.

... Still, that wasn't the end of the freak-outs. Following Shannon's homophobic rant, NaOnka managed to make the same type of mistake. For some unfathomable reason, she felt like now would be a good time to randomly attack Jud/Fabio. NaOnka said this: "I'm not afraid to say how I feel about Fabio. Fabio -- I don't like you!" Jeez, people! Stop spewing out every angry thought that comes into your heads!

Jud/Fabio was looking pretty disgusted by this point and just wanted to get the Council over with. "Can we vote?" he asked. " ... Can we?" NaOnka shot back, in an annoyingly sarcastic voice.

In the end, Shannon's politically incorrect insanity beat out NaOnka's pointless grouchiness. Shannon became the second player kicked off the show, by a vote of 7 to 3. Maybe by next week, the players will have figured out that sometimes not talking can be the wiser course of action. Although we're guessing that NaOnka may just make the same mistake all over again.

Hey, how about you put the tribe and the person AFTER the cut if it's a damn spoiler?! Seriously, it's too easy to spot in passing. Give me a break.

Obviously self-proclaimed Louiasanite Shannon has never been to New Orleans. Way to be sexist throughout the first episode and a half by ganging up on the ladies, then being homophobic for the latter half. I'm sure his wife of 11 years is a very happy woman.
