'Sesame Street' has a 'True Blood' spoof called in its upcoming new season, which premieres Sept. 27. Yep, 'True Blood' -- the nakedest, bloodiest show on TV. The 'True Mud' parody will air on the season 41 premiere of the children's show on Sept. 27.
Has anyone notice 'Sesame Street' seems to be aiming a little older when it comes to material? This week the show spawned controversy by posting a duet between Katy Perry and Elmo online. Parents complained about her cleavage and 'Sesame Street' ended up cutting short the singer's play date with the muppet.
It's tough to imagine any child understanding the references of the "Bill-muppet" moving at super speed or why he'd go to a restaurant to get True Mud. Maybe that's more for the parents or babysitters forced to watch the show. The kids just like the goofy characters and simple wordplay.
We have to admit we watched it even though a child didn't force us into it. Plus, it's better than some 'Saturday Night Live' sketches. Watch and see if you like the more grown-up 'Sesame Street.'
