Switching Bodies With a Daughter on the 'Medium' Premiere (VIDEO)

Switching Bodies With a Daughter on the 'Medium' PremiereLast year, the drama 'Medium' switched networks, moving from NBC to CBS. The change affected the show not a whit, as the paranormal investigation series just kept chugging along, ratings-wise. But on the season seven premiere of 'Medium' (Fri., 8PM ET on CBS), an entirely different type of "switching" took place.

[Warning: Spoiler alert.]

On the premiere, Allison DuBois (Patricia Arquette) shares a dream with her teenage daughter Bridgette (Maria Lark) -- a dream about a missing homeless man. Unfortunately, things get more complicated when this shared dream-experience somehow leads to the two of them swapping bodies. Now, Allison inhabits the body of her little girl, and vice-versa.

This gets especially complicated when "Allison" (in the body of Bridgette), enters her husband's bedroom -- while not having realized that she's switched bodies yet. Husband Joe (Jake Weber) is understandably freaked out by his "daughter" climbing into his bed. "Whoa!" he says. Whoa indeed.

Kids suddenly turning into adults is usually played for laughs, in movies like 'Freaky Friday' and 'Vice Versa.' But on 'Medium,' Allison and Bridgette have a slightly more serious problem on their hands. They have to solve the murder of the missing homeless man -- and also navigate the worlds of school and work, while still being stuck in the wrong bodies. Will the pair be able to solve the crime? And will things return to "normal"? (Normal for a show involving a crime-investigating psychic, that is.)
