Did Sarah Palin Get Booed on 'Dancing With the Stars'? (VIDEO)

by Oliver Miller, posted Sep 28th 2010 1:12AM
Did Sarah Palin Get Booed on 'Dancing With the Stars'?Because she's a supportive mother and everything, former Alaska governor Sarah Palin showed up on 'Dancing With the Stars' (Mon., 8PM ET on ABC) in order to cheer on her 19-year-old daughter, Bristol Palin. But it seems that even an appearance on a reality show can provoke some controversy, if Ms. Palin is involved.

While Jennifer Grey -- last week's winner of the show -- was receiving her scores, audible jeers started rumbling through the auditorium. "There's booing in the ballroom," said host Brooke Burke. "We don't know why." "... Why is there booing?" Grey asked. The camera then moved over to to Ms. Palin, who was sitting next to co-host Tom Bergeron. Sarah shook her head in bemusement. At this point, the boos stopped. Once Sarah showed up on the screen, the crowd began to applaud.

The event seemed fairly random, and it was hard to tell what was going on. Was the crowd booing Palin? If they weren't, then who was being booed? Did the producers tell the crowd to stop jeering and start clapping? So many questions ... (But you can watch the clip of the event here, and try to judge for yourself.)

At any rate, the show continued, and Tom asked Sarah who she was rooting for. "Oh, my goodness," she said. "They're all so amazing." But next, Sarah expressed a preference for "Bristol the Pistol." (And really, what was even the point of this question? Yes, Sarah wants her own daughter to win -- how shocking!)

The show then flashed back to Bristol introducing her partner Mark Ballas to her mom in Wasilla, Alaska. After this, we got to see Bristol and Mark dance the Quickstep to the song 'You Can't Hurry Love.' The pair ended up with a score of 22 out of a possible 30 points -- not too shabby. Their score put them solidly in the middle of the pack, dancing-wise, even though the judges urged Palin to let more of her personality shine through in her dancing.

It has to be admitted that Bristol did a pretty good job with her routine: In fact, much better than many viewers would have expected. We think we can all agree on this no matter what our political affiliation might be -- even if her mom may have gotten booed tonight.

Check out Bristol's full performance below:

Was Bruno Tonioli too harsh on Michael Bolton, calling his jive the 'worst in 11 seasons' of 'Dancing with the Stars'?
Yes, it was bad -- but not that bad683 (60.1%)
No, it was that bad454 (39.9%)

They were definitely booing Sarah. They gave the scores and there was no strong reaction, they were good scores anyways. The boos started well after the normal reaction would be to boo a score, which means that they had to have been booing something else.

I think Sarah would do better to stay in Alaska and "look to see Russia from her house". My guess is that she convinced Bristol to do the show for her own ends, much like she has her billed as a "teen advocate". Really? Let's close the barn door after the horse has escaped. Bristol is adorable and will probably do very well if she can keep her distance from Mom and her desire to have her face on TV.

Mrs. T, Stimulus? What stimulus? Why is it that the Obama drones never mention the fact that the Obama regime sent out 200 dollar checks to low income people last year- This year they cancelled all COLA raises for fixed income people who are on Social Security, SSI, Vet Pensions etc. The Govt sent out the checks in 2009 and took it all back and then some in 2010!!! So much for helping those who really need it. The change Barry was raving about was the change you would have left after he and his commienazis squeeze out of the people. "Yes we can"..........make your life miserable!

my dearest byl:

thank you for your response to my post... i have noticed that whenever you disgree with someone on this board, you respond with comments that are both personal and vile...

you have implied that one person is stupid, that another has had a lobotomy, called one person a nazi, called another mindless, implied that someone was a slut, that another was a bastard whose mother didn't know who his father was, called a poster stupid (again), called another fat, ugly, dirty, and hairy, implied that someone else is drug-addled, and called someone else a liar. oh, and i should check my mental status...

in keeping with my practice of not judging anyone or calling them names, i will merely suggest that when you have some free time, you read your posts and then read mine, and consider what your posts say about you, and what mine say about me...

i must, however, correct some inaccuracies in your post...

1) i don't say anything about a kitchen or a front porch...

2) i did watch ms. palin's interview with katie couric, twice... as should have been clear by my stylized punctuation, i was not quoting ms. palin, but using paraphrasing/shorthand...

3) i am well aware that parts of russia can be seen from parts of alaska... if that is all ms. palin said, i'd have no objection; however, ms. palin implied that she had special knowledge of russia because she can see it... that is like me saying i know more about marine biology than most people because i can see the ocean from my home... see the difference?

4) what "agenda" am i alleged to have? i made no comments about any political affiliation except to say that i am NOT a liberal, and i offered no opinion on any issue at all, political or otherwise... i specifically stated that my poor opinion of sarah palin was NOT based on any political ideology ("politics aside")

5) during the presidential campaign, i watched all candidates debate... when the nominess selected their running mates, i watched the vp debate as well, and was flabbergasted by the things that came out of ms. palin's mouth (at least she TOLD us that she wouldn't answer the question before going completely off-topic) during the campaign, there was a plethora of occasions upon which ms. palin's response to a question either was completely irrelevant, or simply made no sense at all... it was really quite fascinating...

6) even those closest to the mccain/palin campaign later revealed that ms. palin was unprepared, uninformed, and totally unqualified for national office... (at one point during the vp debate, she went so far as to say that she didn't WANT to learn more about ---) sorry, i can't recall the specific topic, but that really doesn't matter... what does matter is that the refusal to learn more about something you know little of is the height of ignorance... and since then, nothing has changed.

sarah palin is completely unqualified to be at the center of national political discourse, not because she is affiliated with the republican party, or the conservative party or the tea party or the purple people eater party, but because she is an ignorant, stupid woman...

well, i've said my piece... i don't think you'll understand it, but there it is... if there is anyone on the board who wishes to engage in civil dialogue, i welcome your replies, but personal attacks just aren't my thing...

Mrs. T.

CBS is NOT a non-biased party. Lame stream media campaigned for Barack Obama!!
CBS paints the picture their way.
Look at the polls that aren't associated to other organizations like Rasmussen, Gallop, Quinipac.

If you are down on Sarah Palin----at least find out what she stands for!! You would agree with her! She wants the best for our country.
Two weeks after Obama was elected, my husband and 1000 of his coworkers were fired. The Company was preparing for the economic downturn. It was worse than anyone thought it would be!!

I also thought the booing was for the score that Jennifer Grey received. I feel as if she is a beautiful graceful dancer and deserved a higher score

The comments against Michael Bolton were totally mean.
He isn't a very good dancer but the comments were much too harsh.
Sarah Palin should be left alone. She was there to support her daughter. Politics should not be a factor in this show.

Doesn't Michelle Obama look like Wayne Brady in drag?
How come nobody makes fun of her? But they do so with Barbara Bush, etc. Sickos.

The audience was booing because Grey and her partner received a low score. Grey was one of the best dancers out there and she deserved a higher score.
It just so happened to coincide the same time as when Palin was introduced. But the media just wanted to make a big deal out of it. It's all for hype and rating! How malicious.

I feel that the judges are too harsh with the guest
dancers. they know when they allow people like
Michael Bolton on the show that they cannot dance.
It just makes it harder for celebs to want to come on the show in the first place. Judges don't need to be so harsh and cruel.
