Obama Slams Fox News and 'Red Eye's' Greg Gutfeld Slams Him Back (VIDEO)

In the latest issue of 'Rolling Stone,' President Barack Obama attacked Fox News, claiming the cable network has a "point of view that I think is ultimately destructive for the long-term growth of a country that has a vibrant middle class."

Fox News host Greg Gutfeld struck back on 'Red Eye' (weekdays, 3AM ET on Fox News).

"Okay. So, you're the president of the United States, with both houses under your control," Gutfeld explained. "You also have the most fawning press of any president in the history of the universe. And yet you let FNC get under your skin?"

"Obama is like a sports team who owns the ref, the fans and the field," he continued. "But refuses to play until the kid in the 10th row stops chewing gum."

Then Gutfeld advanced the theory that Obama was attacking Fox News as a proxy for the American people, who Obama can't get away with attacking:

"And this is why the Whiner-in-Chief needs us. It provides cover, so Obama can criticize Americans without ever saying 'America.' He can just say Fox News instead."

One thing is for sure: If you go after a collection of talking heads, you're going to get an earful back.

The President is right. Fox News is destructive for America. Fox News is responsible for the dumbing down of the country. You cater to the poor and ignorant to keep them uninformed. You dirt bags use race to divide the country and then have to gall to say the President is whining when he calls you out. You lie & distort the news, you filthy pigs.

So the other news organizations don't have a political slant to them? Please stop being one of the sheep, THEY ALL HAVE A POLITICAL SLANT. Have you not watched MSNBC or CNN? The reason so many people (including the President) are opposed to Fox News is because they are coming from the other side of the table, they agree with the messages being put out by the other new organizations, and I have no problem with that. What I have a problem with is that people on both sides of the political spectrum are unable to see it, and they take offense to the views and opinions of others. America is so divided and it is because we allow our politics to divide us in a negative manner, we are unable to engage in a healthy respectful debate, instead if someone disagrees with us they are wrong and stupid. We also don't make up our own minds but instead follow the leads of others and take our cues from them (whether it is Beck, Stewart, O'Riley, Olberman, Matthews).
I hope that one day we will have a President one day who will understand that not everyone is going to agree with him, and rather than stoop down to name calling will engage them in conversation and if they can't come to an accord that they can still shake hands and walk away on positive terms (heck why not all politicians).
Now can how about some Chuck or Fringe news?

How does Gutfeld have the cajones to call Obama a "whiner in chief" and a crybaby while whining about Obama? That doesn't make any sense at all! Also, "kid in the 10th row?" Are you kidding me? You'd belittle your own network just to make your ridiculous point?

All Obama gave was a fair critique of an obviously slanted "news network." If anything, Gutfeld's the crybaby here, not the president.

Once again, anyone who disagrees with Obama is wrong, according to him. I agree with Greg 100%, Obama is a whiner and also can not admit to his mistakes and blames everyone else. If more people in the media stood up to him and told him the truth maybe, just maybe he would look in the mirror and realize they are right and he is wrong.

I just want to echo and agree with what Joyce N. says. I am 51 years old and for most of my life was a news junkie who watched all the news shows and read every newspaper I got my hands on, as well as all the news magazines. I gradually got out of that habit as the network news, newspapers and magazines became increasingly tabloidesque and celebrity obsessed. However, in my experience, no major news organization has ever covered the news with the obvious slant and bias that Fox does. To me, they do'nt even qualify as a news organization, but rather as a propaganda arm of the Republican party. They do'nt report the news in an objective manner, rather, they cherry pick and select information based on how it supports their right wing Republican agenda.
Their have always been fringe groups out there who spew their half-truths, outright lies and simplistic drivel to a like minded and uncritical audience. The differnce with Fox is not the message they send, but the method that they are able to use to do it with, which is a major TV network. That doesnt make their content any better, just much louder and more widespread.
