Taye Diggs Talks About His "Jewish" Dog and Young Son (VIDEO)

Taye Diggs and his wife (Broadway/'Glee' star Idina Menzel) have named their dog after the Jewish African-American Sammy Davis Jr., because, as the actor explained on 'Chelsea Lately' (weeknights, 11PM ET on E!), "My wife is Jewish; I'm black." Chelsea Handler asked whether they celebrated any Jewish holidays. "We Hanukkah -- that's about it." The host "grew up Jewish," but she and her Jewish friends preferred celebrating Christmas. "Hanukkah is not a fun holiday. It's like, you get one present eight times in a week ... Forget it already!" Handler said.
Diggs said their baby son "by tradition [is] Jewish, right, if the mother's Jewish." So the 'Private Practice' star asked Handler's advice on raising him in a Jewish household. For a start, she suggested maybe naming him Sammy Davis Jr. as well. Too late: He's Walker Nathaniel. (He's over a year old, after all.)
