Beanbags, Barrels, and a Surprising Elimination on 'Survivor: Nicaragua' (VIDEO)

Beanbags, Barrels, and a Surprising Elimination on 'Survivor: Nicaragua'Last time on 'Survivor: Nicaragua' (Wed., 8PM ET on CBS), Shannon made the highly questionable decision of launching into a homophobic rant during the Tribal Council. This shocked the other players, and considerably simplified the decision of who to kick off. And so, Shannon swiftly got the boot. But now, it's Week Three, and the elimination this time around was a bit more ... unexpected.

[Warning: Spoiler alert.]

The challenge on tonight's show involved barrels and beanbags. Our teams of young people and older people had to collect 10 barrels, arrange them in a pattern, then toss beanbags on top of them. For Team Espada (i.e., "Team Old People"), this seemed like a good time for coach Jimmy Johnson to show off his frequently praised "leadership skills." Unfortunately, things didn't work out so well.

Espada took an early lead, with Tyrone hitting five barrels in quick succession. But Johnson elected to keep Tyrone in the game for too long -- much to the aggravation of Jimmy T., who constantly (and we mean constantly) pestered Johnson to let him play instead. Eventually, Tyrone wore himself out, and La Flor ("Team Young People") took the lead.

Jimmy J. switched tactics at last and let Jimmy T. in the game -- but it was too late. La Flor won the challenge, and Espada had to trudge sadly back to their camp. Once they were back, Jimmy T. continued to whine about how his talents were being wasted. But Jimmy J. defended his decision to keep Tyrone in the game.

Then, it was Tribal Council time! In keeping with the general theme of the day, Jimmy T. was petulant and grouchy, stating that there were "three or four" weak players on his team. Host Jeff Probst wanted to know who the weak links were, and asked each Espada contestant if they were holding the tribe back.

Unsurprisingly, no one admitted to being the weakest link ... until we got to the last person to speak: Mr. Jimmy J. himself, who confessed: "I'm the oldest player -- and one of the weakest too." Whoa. Dude, don't say that! But it was too late. The damage was done. Voted were tallied and former football coach Jimmy Johnson became the third 'Survivor' player voted off this season.

This was definitely not a pleasing result for CBS or the show -- as he was the much hyped "celebrity" contestant. Will you guys keep watching 'Survivor,' now that Jimmy J. is gone? And should he have confessed his feelings of weakness? Was this a foolish choice -- or a disarmingly honest one?

Man does Alina ever look like Amber from Survivor 2 and Survivor 8 all*stars. I wish she would have helped Kelly B. carry that basket of fruit instead of the mean crazy NaOnka

I will be much MORE likely to watch now he is gone. Was getting so sick and tired fo football comparisons being spouted all of the time. This put me off more than anything. Nice guy - but glad he is gone.

I missed the homophobe thing, but last night that vote made no sense. The black girl (name?) on the young tribe is just a vile personality and doesn't represent young people or african americans very well. I still think the woman Yves is a strong contender..decent in challenges, creates no waves, seems smart. No one on the young team impresses me at all, though the girl Brenda is pretty and is using that to her advantage

This guy Marty and the fisherman may be old, but they are certainly not mature and are extremely unpleasant to be around. Marty is a total a*hole. Talk about a pathetic old dude! Hey, you're OLD, how about GROWING UP???

This year the show has only been worth watching for Jimmy J. To see what it might actually be like to watch a team function like a team ....

That young black woman brings new meaning to ghetto trash. It's nauseating every time she opens her ugly mouth.

I was very disappointed Jimmy J was voted off last night. I figured last night was his night to go so I taped and did not watch the show. If he stayed I would have watched it but now I can erase. I doubt I will bother with the rest of the season. Survivor has gotten to me with the manipulative and nasty people that are on. I hadn't watched the previous two seasons because after one show of seeing Russell, I had no interest in watching the nastiness continue. Now the only one that made the show worthwhile this season is gone... what a bunch of idiots voting him out.

The ER Doctor seems to be the front runner at this time, Marty reminds me of Rob, Dan is useless, and the black girl on the young team - UNFORGIVABLE!

These might be the stupidest and craziest Survivors ever. NaOnka is psycho. Marty and Jimmy T. let their bruised egos cloud their strategy, because they should have voted out Dan. Jill is weak and just blindly following Marty. It's pathetic. Check out my review of the episode here: http://couchtimewithjill.com

Normally I like Survivor but this season - not so much - the only one I liked was Coach and now that he's gone, I don't think I'm going to watch it this season - not One person to root for - very dissapointing.
