NYC Mayor Michael Bloomberg Wants David Letterman's Job (VIDEO)
Michael Bloomberg is the 10th richest man in America, and the 23rd richest man in the world. He's worth more than $18 billion. And, oh yeah, he's also the mayor of New York City. But that doesn't mean that he wouldn't consider starting a new career. On 'Late Show' (weeknights, 11:35PM ET on CBS), Bloomberg expressed a desire for David Letterman's job.Currently, Bloomberg is caught up in the seemingly never-ending "Ground Zero Mosque" controversy. (And let's pause, as always, to point out that it's not technically a mosque, and isn't technically at Ground Zero.) The mayor said that he supports the right of the builders to construct the Islamic center, adding that they have a "First Amendment" right to build and worship wherever they want.
Bloomberg pointed out that even though a lot of people are offended by building the mosque in that area, it isn't actually pristine ground. For instance, there are adult bars and strip clubs right nearby. Letterman seemed intrigued by this, and wanted more precise directions. "Where are these 'adult bars' you speak of?" he asked. We're sure that Dave only wanted to know this because he's abstractly interested in the Ground Zero debate.
Still, Mike may be a little worn out by all the controversy, and anyway, his last term as mayor will end in a couple of years. When asked what his future plans were, Bloomberg mentioned maybe having his own talk show -- one that started around 11:35PM, on the CBS Television Network ...
In response to this, Letterman looked nervous, and tugged awkwardly at his lapel. Yeah, you're probably right to be nervous, Dave. After all, if he really wanted to, Bloomberg could just buy the entire network, and put himself on every single show.
