David Cross Explains Why He Hires Children to Swear on 'Jimmy Kimmel Live' (VIDEO)

by Jason Hughes, posted Oct 1st 2010 4:29AM
'Jimmy Kimmel Live'Comedian David Cross has been employing children from across the continent to appear in is stand-up show. On 'Jimmy Kimmel Live' (Weeknights, 12AM on ABC), Kimmel wanted to know why.

"They're cheap, very exploitable," Cross explained. "They fall asleep very easily."

In all seriousness, he has the kids dress up like him, with glasses and a bald wig, and hit the stage instead of him after the warm-up comedian. Then the kid launches into a curse-filled monologue that Cross had pre-written for him just to completely mess with the audience. And as a special treat, or hurdle depending on your perspective, he found a new kid from each city he hit on the tour.

When Kimmel asked about how difficult it was to get these kids' parents to sign off on their kids performing these filthy monlogues, Cross said he was surprised at their enthusiasm. "There is no shortage of parents who will gleefully exploit their children." Clearly he hasn't been watching enough reality television, or he would have known that.

Kimmel showed a clip of the kid from the Boston show, which Cross had taped, and the kid was hilarious, berating the audience and saying words that would have gotten most kids mouths washed out with buckets of soap.

Cross revealed that the kid was so good from their Milwaukee shows that they brought him out to Boston because it was going to be taped. And the kid even ad-libbed one of the funniest lines: "I hope this chandelier falls all over you squagel m*****f******!" The kid ad-libbed the word squagel. If Cross isn't careful, he might get upstaged on his own shows with kids like this.
