Syfy Renews 'Haven' for Season Two

by Jean Bentley, posted Oct 7th 2010 8:00PM
'Haven'Syfy has ordered a second season of its hit summer series, 'Haven' according to Deadline Hollywood.

The show, which premiered in July, follows FBI agent Audrey Parker (Emily Rose) as she's sent to investigate a murder in the strange town of Haven, Maine. Naturally -- this is Syfy, after all -- the town is populated by people who have supernatural powers and spooky things start happening, so she ends up sticking around.

The first season finale is set to air this Friday, and the show will return next summer for a 13-episode season 2.

'Haven' is based on a Stephen King novella called 'The Colorado Kid,' but the show is not remaining 100 percent faithful to the original story. "We're not taking 'The Colorado Kid' 100 percent literally," Rose told TV Squad when we visited the set earlier this year. "We're using that world as a greenhouse for all these other stories to take place. King created the stage on which we perform. Good ol' Uncle Steve, as we call him."

Though it hasn't stood out ratings-wise, 'Haven' has performed solidly for Syfy since its July debut. Plus, the series seems to have finally broken the curse of notorious show-killer Eric Balfour.

I really enjoy the show and I'm glad it's back for another season.

I love the show "Haven" even if it is another cop show, at least this is a weird one. Love Emily Rose...she is so cool in all the "troubles" situations...and her partner can only feel her touch ... lololol. Wish I had seen the last episode. Anyone know where I can see it?

I'm surprised this article wasn't negative.

When there was someone reviewing the show from Tvsquad, all they could do was talk about how horrible it was.

It sounded like it was the worst show on Television, and here it is getting a renewal.

While the season wasn't "stellar" it's been solid, and was worth the renewal.
