'Modern Family' Costume: Mitch and Cam

How to dress up like Mitch and Cam from 'Modern Family' for Halloween

The Costume:
TV's new favorite life partners Mitch (Jesse Tyler Ferguson) and Cam (Eric Stonestreet) from 'Modern Family.'

What You'll Need: First, you'll need another person. This is a great costume for buddies with a sense of humor, a gay couple or even a straight couple.

We'd like to say this costume works for anyone. However, the fact of the matter is one of you needs to be noticeably larger than the partner to pull it off. That's why this can be a great costume for a man and woman, with the latter donning a fake red beard and short red wig to be Mitch. (A guy may also have to get the beard and wig if he doesn't have the correct hair color or can't grow a beard.)

Next, the clothing. Cam tends to wear oversized button-down shirts. They're stylish but sometimes loud. If you can buy one a couple sizes larger, pick up a strap-on gut at the costume shop or stuff an small pillow in there.

Since Mitch is notoriously uptight, the more meticulous the outfit, the better. No matter what else you wear, though, a vest is a key. A tailored jacket, pressed slack and tie would complete the look. But in general, make sure it's fashionable, pristine and dressier than what your Cam is wearing.

When you head out for the night, remember to costume will work much better if you sell it. Both characters talk a lot with their hands. Cam should be optimistic and cheerful to the point annoying. Mitch should be stressed and frustrated with Cam.

Accessories: Every TV fan will absolutely love this costume. But the thing that will make them laugh hardest is if you bring along their adopted Vietnamese daughter Lily. Head to the toy store and pick up an Asian baby doll and wrap it in a blanket.

If you happen to have some drumsticks, bring those along for Cam. Remember the episode when he joined the teenage rock band?
