'The Biggest Loser': Losing the Battle Against the Thin Red Line (VIDEO)

'The Biggest Loser': Losing the Battle Against the Thin Red LineOn 'The Biggest Loser' (Tue., 8PM ET on NBC), all contestants must face the dreaded "red line." If you've barely shed any pounds, then you fall below the line and are kicked off the show immediately. It's a struggle, it's a war -- like in the movie 'The Thin Red Line.' (That's our metaphor, and we're sticking with it.) Tonight, host Alison Sweeney announced that two players would be kicked off -- so one contestant faced the red line right away.

[Warning: Spoiler alert.]

The show began with a challenge. The players could eat cupcakes, in the hopes of finding a disk hidden under one cupcake that would give them an advantage at the weigh-in. Or they could resist the temptation, not eat any of them, and not win the prized disk.

Four players made the wrong choice (or was it the right choice?), chowing down cupcakes in their quest for the magical disk. Among them was Elizabeth Ruiz, who instantly regretted her decision and began to cry -- terrified that she would fall under the red line.

But Elizabeth wasn't kicked off. Adam found the disk, and we quickly moved on to the first weigh-in. Mark was injured during a workout, failed to lose much weight, and was creeping closer and closer to the red line. In the end, he avoided elimination by ... one pound. Sophia Franklin wasn't so lucky, though. She was the last contestant to step on the scale. Sophia only lost two pounds this week, fell below the line, and heard these words from Alison Sweeney: "You are not the biggest loser."

Sophia wept. "I'm heartbroken," she said. But she added that she was strong enough to handle going home. Hopefully, Sophia will remain strong. She and the other eliminated contestants still have a shot at winning the $100,000 "At Home" prize. Sophia may have lost the battle, but not necessarily the war.

Did they change the color of the LINE? I thought it had always been the yellow line! I don't watch it like I used to, cannot stand Jillian Michael's voice for one reason.
