Why 'Take the Money and Run' Is Going to Be Awesome

Jerry Bruckheimer, Elise Doganieri and Bertram van MunsterABC has officially ordered six episodes of a new reality show called 'Take the Money and Run.' According to Deadline, the new project from Jerry Bruckheimer, Elise Doganieri and Bertram van Munster, the team behind 'The Amazing Race,' is a "high-stakes reality series" that asks, "can you commit the perfect crime and get away away with it?"

The Wrap first reported on the show back in April, when it was tentatively called 'Catch Me' and was casting pairs of contestants with "an adventurous streak and a poker face."

Without knowing much else about the it, we can confidently say that this new series is probably going to be fantastic. After the jump, four reasons why.

1. The Amazing Race is the best reality competition on TV. Shut it, 'Survivor' fans -- your show's formula is stale. 'TAR' travels to different areas of the world every season. Plus, think about it: Is watching people carrying giant slabs of meat on their backs ever not entertaining? How about watching someone getting slammed in the face with a watermelon? Does that get old? The answer is no, no it doesn't.

2. Everyone secretly wants to know if they can get away with the perfect crime. Isn't that why we all read mystery and crime novels? And watch movies? Case in point: That Michael Douglas/Gwyneth Paltrow movie, 'A Perfect Murder,' was pretty great.

3. Bertram van Munster is an amazing name. Have you ever heard of a better name? Actually, it would probably be better if he had a title, like Count Bertram van Munster or Lord Bertram van Munster.

4. It reminds us of ABC's late, great 'The Mole.'
Remember the Anderson Cooper-hosted reality series where a group of contestants tried to figure out which of them was sabotaging the competition? Because we do. Man, that was a quality show. 'Take the Money and Run' could capture that sinister spirit we loved so much.

What do you think of the description of the new show?

It does sound interesting. I prefer the title "Catch me", however.
