'Private Practice': Looking For a Home Away From HomeOn the new 'Private Practice' (Thu., 10PM ET on ABC), an old friend's daughter returns -- and the doctors at Oceanside Wellness must find her a home. But they learn that doing the right thing is harder than you think.

[Warning: Spoiler alert.]

Last season, Dell Parker (Chris Lowell) died following a car accident. Dell left his daughter Betsy Parker behind, and Betsy's mother is dead as well -- so the little girl was left in the care of an aunt. Now, the aunt suddenly arrives at the clinic, abandoning Betsy there. The doctors don't know what to do. And Betsy (Hailey Sole) has no family left to help her.

Dr. Violet Turner (Amy Brenneman) takes Betsy home with her -- but her husband Pete (Tim Daly) is worried about this plan. Psychiatrist Sheldon Wallace (Brian Benben) is worried too. Sheldon thinks that Betsy is still dealing with emotional trauma. After being rejected by her one remaining family member, Betsy may be frightened of being rejected again.

Sheldon may have a point, because the smallest mistake can panic Betsy. While helping herself to a glass of juice in the kitchen-- Betsy spills the glass: and suddenly looks terrified, like she's done something unforgivable. Then, Violet swoops in for the rescue. She covers up for Betsy's accident, pouring her own drink on the floor.

Next, Violet grabs a soda bottle and shakes it up -- spraying the kitchen with liquid. Soon the doctor and the girl are laughing and splashing soda everywhere. It's the most fun they've had in ages. ... And that's when Betsy asks if she can stay with Violet "forever." Violet looks to Pete and Sheldon for approval: the two men exchange nervous glances. What can be done? Can this child find a home?
