'The Amazing Race': Trapped in a Hotel Made Entirely of Ice (VIDEO)
Tonight on 'The Amazing Race' (Sun., 8PM ET on CBS), the teams had to travel from the Equator to the Arctic Circle. That's a really long trip! But when they arrived in the arctic, two of the contestants got a very "chilly" reception. (And we won't do any more cold-related puns, we promise.)The players left Ghana, Africa and headed to the Swedish/Norwegian border. As there are no direct flights from Ghana to the Swedish border, the teams faced a circuitous journey. The obstacles along the way included a sled dog race and a stop at a hotel made entirely of ice.
Last week, Michael and Kevin fell victim to the African heat. Michael collapsed from heatstroke, and the father-and-son team came in last. Tonight, the pair did better -- arriving fourth in Jukkasjärvi, Sweden, home of the world-famous "Icehotel."
The players gasped as they entered the glittering building. But in exchange for their previous last-place finish, Michael and Kevin encountered a Speed Bump: They had to spend ten minutes sitting in "ice chairs" -- and Kevin was only wearing a pair of shorts.
The father and son sat down, trapped in their chairs as the clock slowly ticked away. At first, it was merely an unusual sensation. "I wish in Ghana we had these ice chairs," Kevin joked. But then, the challenge grew painful for Kevin, as the ice burned into his bare legs ... and other bodily parts. "Feels like needles sticking into my butt-cheeks," he moaned. Ouch!
