A "Ghost" in the Attic on 'Melissa & Joey' (VIDEO)

A 'Ghost' in the Attic on 'Melissa & Joey'On the new 'Melissa & Joey' (Tue., 8PM ET on ABC Family), the stressed-out extended family prepares for Halloween. But there's more family than they expected -- and things get extra stressful as well.

[Warning: Spoiler alert.]

Mel (Melissa Joan Hart) is trying to micromanage Halloween. She wants Lennox and Ryder (Taylor Spreitler and Nick Robinson) to really enjoy the holiday. But the teenagers aren't very into it. They're distracted -- and for a very good reason. Lennox and Ryder are trying to hide their father in the attic.

Their dad Lewis Scanlon (John Ross Bowie) has stolen money from a lot of people -- including "manny" Joey (Joey Lawrence). And now, Lewis is a fugitive from justice. Mel and Joey both dislike Lewis -- so to avoid detection, Lennox and Ryder toss their father in the attic, where he won't be seen. But even if he can't be seen, Lewis can still be heard.

While carving a pumpkin for Halloween, Joey responds to odd sounds coming from the top floor of the house. He thinks it sounds like a rat, or "family of rats," so Lennox does some damage control, telling Joey that it's nothing. ... Then, the lights go out. Not good. They have a "ghost" in the attic -- but is it a benevolent spirit, reminding them all of the value of family? Or is the supposed "rat" just an actual rat in real life?
