News Roundup: Kelly Ripa Returning to Primetime, 'Glee' Star Readies Debut Album and More

Kelly Ripa, Mark ConsuelosKelly Ripa is prepping a return to primetime with a new series, 'Port Love.'

Ripa, host of 'Live With Regis and Kelly,' and husband Mark Consuelos will co-write and executive-produce the project. Consuelos will star, with Ripa set for a recurring role. According to Deadline Hollywood, the project, a single camera workplace comedy, follows the cast and crew of a once-popular TV show who have quite a lot of backstage drama.

In other TV news ...

• Carol Mendelsohn has sold a new crime drama to CBS. The 'CSI' showrunner's new project adapts Thomas Perry's Jane Whitefield suspense novels. The character acts as a one-person witness protection program. [Reuters]

• 'Glee' star Mark Salling has released the first video from his debut album. The song, 'Illusions,' is off Salling's album, 'Pipe Dreams,' out Oct. 25. [Entertainment Weekly]

• Ellen DeGeneres is expanding her TV empire. The daytime talk show host as signed a new deal with Warner Bros. that will see her expand her production deal across various WB divisions. As a result, DeGeneres' company, A Very Good Production, will develop and produce network programs, cable shows, reality programming and syndicated shows. [Deadline Hollywood]

• Angela Lansbury has spoken out about her 'Murder, She Wrote' co-star Tom Bosley. "He was just a terrific person to work with," Lansbury said. "He was an actor's actor. He felt that the [happier] the atmosphere on the set was, the more we would get done." [TV Guide]

• TBS has ordered two new hourlong comedy pilots. 'Hound Dogs' comes from writer Ron Shelton and is set in the world of minor league baseball. Josh Lobis and Darin Moiselle are behind 'The Wedding Band,' about a group of guys who try to escape stress by performing in a wedding band.' [Deadline Hollywood]

• Nancy Grace is beating Nate Berkus in the daytime ratings battle. Berkus is currently pulling in 1.2 million viewers a day, Grace gets about 2 million. [Hollywood Reporter]

Lets get real she is a has been and if you all remember her husband needs her to get any job as she is the one who always gets it for him. I will not watch their show so advertisers we are 1 family that will not see the commercials your paying to put on the show

What is it with that show? First that Gifford and now this ... because Regis is too much of a gentleman the two walk all over him. I thought KLG was bad - what a self-aggrandizing woman - but now this bag of ribs. She looks like a skinny witch, how is it these girls think they are hot? Look at her face, she is a mess and one step away from hospitalization for anorexia. What a society when this look is considered attractive . . . sick!

Personally, I don't think Mark Consuelos is a good actor. Didn't like him on All My Children, or in Hope & Faith. I did like Kelly as an actress, but she's a lot like Kathy Lee Gifford, who she replaced on Regis's show.

I think people are kind of tired of seeing Regis & Kelley all over the place. A little over exposure. Now they represent a bank based in Canada, BUY AMERICAN !! I changed to an AMERICAN Bank.

Well hey....all I can say is that they're BOTH easy on the eyes!! And well him...in a sweater showing off his arms!!! WOW!!!! I wish them both luck. But after her last show.....Again...GOOD LUCK!! (or as they say in France "Bon Chance")

I am SO EXCITED to hear they MAY have a TV show about Thomas Perry's JANE WHITEFIELD. You know many of the stories mention this area (Rochester, Buffalo). Excellent characters & mysteries. I highly recommend his books.

Love Kelly, Love Mark, talented people. The same goes for "Ellen". How about coming up with a new show for Bonnie Hunt, the talented and wonderful actress who should never have been canceled. Her talk show was heartwarming! What about a second go round for her?

Kelly could have a good show if she doesnt hog all the scenes. She talks too much and interupts people.
So Kelly settle down and dont let it be all about you.
Hope we get to see more of Mark.
