The CW Taps 'Buffy,' 'Angel' Veterans for New Projects

The CWThose pining away for a new kick-butt super heroine may not have to wait much longer.

The CW has tapped Marti Noxon, Elizabeth Craft and Sarah Fain, veterans of Joss Whedon projects 'Buffy the Vampire Slayer' and 'Angel,' for new projects.

According to Vulture, former 'Dollhouse' and 'Angel' writers Craft and Frain are working on an adaptation of 'The Vampire Diaries' author L.J. Smith's book series 'Secret Circle.' The drama follows a teen girl who moves from California to New Salem and discovers she's a witch. Alloy Entertainment, the production company behind 'Gossip Girl' and 'The Vampire Diaries,' is prepping the project for The CW.

Noxon, a veteran of 'Buffy,' 'Angel,' 'Mad Men,' 'Private Practice' and 'Grey's Anatomy,' is helming 'Chloe,' a project about about a female con artist who dies and returns to Earth as a Divine Covert Operator (also known as an angel to some). Noxon isn't writing the project, Jason Fuchs of 'Holy Rollers' fame has that task.

As 'Smallville' wraps its final season, there is definitely a place for some new sci-fi/superhero drama at The CW. Both projects just have pilot script commitments at this point.

Tell us: Would pedigree alone get you to tune into one of these shows?
