Harry Reid Claims 'But For Me, We'd Be in a World-Wide Depression' (VIDEO)

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid is currently in a neck-and-neck battle with Tea Party candidate Sharron Angle for his Nevada Senate seat. In an interview with Ed Schultz on 'The Ed Show' (weekdays, 6 PM ET on MSNBC), Reid addressed why his race with Angle, who many people don't think is a particularly strong candidate, is so close."People have been hurting," Reid said, in reference to the depressed economy of Nevada. "I understand that. And it doesn't give them comfort or solace for me to tell them, 'but for me, we'd be in a world-wide depression."
Reid is catching a lot grief for claiming personal responsibility for saving the world from a depression, which we think is a little unfair. If we were suffering delusions of grandeur we'd have surely added that we also saved the world from famine and pestilence, and commend Reid for resisting that urge.
