'Extreme Makeover': Tragedy, Loss, and a New HomeTwo years ago, Trisha Urban lost her husband Andrew. This happened just before the arrival of Trisha's daughter Cora -- who was born on February 5th, 2009. Following Andrew's death, Trisha was too depressed to take care of herself. She basically lived in a single room of her old house, hiding in the log cabin that she and Andrew once shared.

While Trisha hid, the house gradually crumbled around her. Now, Trisha is getting a second chance. On 'Extreme Makeover' (Sun., 8PM ET on ABC). Ty Pennington and his team provided a new home for Trisha and Cora -- complete with a fairy tale-style playhouse for Cora, and space for the family's many farm animals.

But the new house also contained a piece of the old: A wooden beam from the centuries-old cabin that Trisha once shared with her husband.

Ty and his team took the gigantic wooden beam and built it into Trisha's new home. So, there's something old and something new. Trisha wept upon seeing where she and her daughter would be living. But now, she will need to embark upon a second life.

I think the lady is very grateful, she said so.How people look at others and judge are so different. We didn't see Andy's Mother, just the Dad.The brother looked nothing like the Dad either so maybe the health issues were from the Mother.

Very true, p. On some of the shows someone has paid off the mortgage but the taxes never go away. Working something into the makeover to help with that would be good. And maybe toning down the makeovers so they can include paying off the mortgage would be a good idea. They need to rethink alot of this, but the idea of the show is still a wonderful one. Hope they can work out the huge kinks.

Another show "undercover boss"is another theatrical show....they pick three people and give them a vacation,or last night the one guy will have his out of pocket medical bills paid....until he is well....What about the other people with sick kids???The companies and their multi-million dollar CEOs live in mansions....so to me they are giving them a drop in the bucket....They just want people's attitudes about CEOs to change .....they think we are stupid.....

Let me start by saying how great this is that this woman and many in need get these new homes. My question also is, do they have to be so big? My goodness, some of these homes are 3000 sq ft. My husband and I have a house that is 2800 and I know what it takes just for the electric, gas, etc. These people haven't seddendly gotten jobs where they make really good money, so again, how in the world do they up keep just the monthly expenses?

I also came in on the second half of the show, and was wondering what had happened to her husband...this is only natural to wonder.

I say good luck to her and enjoy this beautiful home!

I watch this show all the time .Some of these homes can be fixed without all the theatrics....They go way overboard and could help allot more people...but...then again it's a show...Her husband was probably sick and the medical bills probably prevented them from fixing the house....She probably has been living off life insurance money...they were not too forth coming about anything...I just wonder how some of them ,if they are so down and out,how can they maintain theses homes????

I am angry people are saying only people that serve on big ways are deserving. OK so if I had to have ask for help since I am very sick and my husband passed away suddenly at age 40 and we have 3 kids. We both did what we were supposed to do in life went to college and saved for our downpayment got married had kids. My husband was youth soccer coach for 13 years, did youth group, has helped I cannot tell you how many kids that had no rides from sports at school home. I run a support group for others with my illness. I also do all the emails for boosters for footballa nd swimming at school , help make reservations for dance compettions.
So this all is not helping enough and oh by the way i also used to work as nurse in a ER.
I am sorry this is long but my point is we did nto advertise these things so maybe her husband or her was jsut as involved.

You've got to have money to afford all those animals and that land. I don't see where she was so hard up.

I didn't see the show but if she was struggling so much how could she have so many farm animals? A horse? Goats? Chickens? Farm animals are not cheap to maintain. I would give anything to be able to afford a horse for my daughter.

I don't think marie was being insensitive about this woman receiving a new home, I think she is right and anyone who says that our military, fireman & policeman families aren't deserving because THEY knew the perils they faced in their jobs, are just plain STUPID!! these are the very people who serve and protect us and if their families aren't deserving than who is??? With thousands of lost lives in our armed services certainly their are young families who were left with nothing and I for one would love to see them get a nice house and fresh start.
