New York Cablevision Customers Will Miss World Series Opener Tonight, Jeff Bridges to Host 'SNL' and More

by Jean Bentley, posted Oct 27th 2010 6:45PM
Cablevision logoNew York-area Cablevision customers will not be able to watch the first game of the World Series tonight due to the cable company's ongoing dispute with Fox.

Fox and Cablevision's feud has caused a now-11-day-long Fox blackout among the cable company's 3 million households. Cablevision publicly offered this morning to carry several -- but not all -- of Fox's channels for a discounted rate. "We agree to pay the rate Fox charges Time Warner Cable for carriage of WNYW-Fox 5 New York and WTXF-Fox 29 Philadelphia for a period of one year," the company said in a statement.

However, Fox called the offer "incomplete" and did not accept, the Washington Post reports. "Cablevision's offer -- sent to the press just as it was provided to us -- is yet another in a long line of publicity stunts," Fox said in a statement.

Cablevision is calling for the FCC to intervene.
