'Scrubs' Cast: Where Are They Now? Plus, a Whole Lot of Crazy on DVD
by Kim Potts, posted Oct 27th 2010 5:00PM

It's a very 'Scrubs'-y night on ABC tonight: Neil Flynn is one of the best, least-cliché dads on the tube in the sitcom 'The Middle' (8PM ET), and at 9:30PM, 'Scrubs' creator Bill Lawrence's newest creation, 'Cougar Town,' hits the air with a Halloween-themed episode which includes 'Scrubs' alum (and Lawrence's real-life wife) Christa Miller, 'Scrubs' guest star Courteney Cox and, in a special guest appearance, 'Scrubs' star Ken "Dr. Kelso" Jenkins as the Halloween-lovin' father of Cox's Jules.
Plus, you might just see one of those ubiquitous commercials for the upcoming big-screen sci-fi thriller 'Skyline,' which stars 'Scrubs' Dr. Turk, aka Donald Faison, during primetime. The entire cast is also front and center -- and in a cool lenticular cover -- in the recently-released 'Scrubs: The Complete Collection' DVD box set (Walt Disney Home Video), a 26-disc collection that includes all nine seasons of the show, a trivia game that rewards you with bonus footage if you know your 'Scrubs' characters and storylines well enough, all the fantastic bonus materials that were featured on previous DVD releases, plus goodies like a photobooth strip with 'Scrubs' characters, J.D.'s hospital ID badge and the aforementioned lenticular cover of the cast (which shows them in "normal" and X-ray views), all housed in a nifty package that resembles a hospital clipboard. Got a 'Scrubs' fan on your holiday shopping list? Cross it off the list with this fan-friendly set.
Now, we know where Turk, Kelso, Janitor and Jordan have been up to, but what about the rest of the Sacred Heart staff?
Zach BraffDr. John "J.D." Dorian
Post-'Scrubs,' the daydreamin' Dorian, er Braff, has headed back to the big screen, where he has a full slate of upcoming movies, including the drama 'The Devil and the Deep Blue Sea' with Chloe Moretz and Jessica Biel; the dramedy 'Andrew Henry's Meadow,' which he co-wrote; 'Open Hearts,' a remake of a Danish film about a woman whose husband is paralyzed in a car crash (Braff stars in and directs the movie); the romantic comedy 'Swingles,' which he directs and co-stars in with Cameron Diaz; and '8 Track,' a surfing dramedy he's co-writing. Braff also starred in the Off-Broadway comedy 'Trust' last summer, he continues to voice the Cottonelle puppy and voiceovers for PUR water filter commercials on TV, he's co-owner of the Mermaid Oyster Bar restaurant in New York city and his name has been among those bandied about as a possible Steve Carell replacement when 'The Office' boss departs the show at the end of the current season.
John C. McGinleyDr. Perry Cox
Since he stopped talking at a breakneck speed and coming up with a list of girl names for his colleague Dr. Dorian, Dr. Cox, a.k.a. 'Office Space' star McGinley, has provided voice work for the animated series 'The Boondocks' and 'WordGirl,' and is filming the big-screen comedy 'The Discoverers,' about a family's cross country road trip. The sports fan also voices commercials for ESPN, continues to be a spokesman for the National Down Syndrome Society, in honor of son Max, and voiced Metallo in the 'Superman/Batman: Public Enemies' animated movie.
Sarah ChalkeDr. Elliot Reid
Since hanging up her scrubs as neurotic, but endearing Dr. Reid, former 'Roseanne' star Chalke gave birth to son Charlie in Dec. 2009 and served as the ambassador for the Susan G. Komen Passionately Pink for the Cure program in 2009. Chalke will return to primetime in 2011 as the star of 'Mad Love,' a CBS midseason comedy about twentysomething NYC friends looking for love. Chalke plays Kate, who falls in love with Henry (Jason Biggs), and whose new relationship leaves her friends, including Judy Greer and Tyler Labine, skeptical.
Judy ReyesNurse Carla Turk
Post-'Scrubs,' Reyes, Nurse Carla, the sassy wife of Turk and BFF to Elliot and Dr. Cox, has guest starred on 'HawthoRNe' and 'Medium,' appears frequently on the Si TV news/pop culture series 'Latino 101,' gave birth to daughter Leila in Nov. 2009 and co-starred in the comedy flick 'Without Men,' with Christian Slater and Eva Longoria Parker, and the dram 'Gun Hill Road' with Esai Morales.
Sam LloydTed Buckland
Sad sack hospital lawyer Ted (most frequent quote: a bummed out "Awwwwwww!"), a.k.a. comedian Sam Lloyd, has guest starred on 'Medium' and ''Til Death.' The nephew of 'Back to the Future' star Christopher Lloyd, he is also a member of the singing group The Blanks, who performed on 'Scrubs' as Ted's Band, and continue to tour, performing their original tunes and the a cappella TV theme songs they so memorably performed on 'Scrubs.' Lloyd is also the bass player in the Beatles tribute band The Butties.
Robert MaschioDr. Todd "The Todd" Quinlan
There's been a sad lack of Maschio in primetime since he hung up his scrubs, and, of course, his banana hammocks, as high-fivin' horndog The Todd. He does host the 'Scrubs' trivia challenge on the new 'Complete Collection' DVD set, and, according to his official Website, he's filmed roles in a pair of big-screen flicks. Still, we have to say, come back to the tube, The Todd ... we miss you!
