Actor Jon Cryer Discusses Being a Straight 'Gay Icon' (VIDEO)

Actor Jon Cryer Discusses Being a Straight 'Gay Icon''Two and a Half Men' star Jon Cryer appeared on 'Lopez Tonight' (weeknights, 11PM ET on TBS), and talked about one of his most iconic roles, Duckie in 'Pretty in Pink.'

Just in time for the 25th anniversary of the classic 1980s film, Cryer tackled the issue of Duckie's sexuality.

Many viewers assumed Duckie was homosexual -- even co-star Molly Ringwald felt the same way about the character. However, Cryer set the record straight: he's not gay, and he never thought Duckie was.

The actors said fans around the world assume he's gay, but he doesn't even get any flirting out of the deal.

"Besides the fact that I am not actually gay ... [no] gay men ... have ever come on to me." It's not really fair, now is it? "Fellas!'" he continued. "If everybody thinks I'm gay, why aren't you guys coming on to me?!"

If you saw the movie and thought the character Duckie was gay, you are the most retarded person in the world. How the he11 can you see some guy in love with and pining over the girl and think he's homosexual? Stupid stupid stupid. If you haven't seen the movie and think the character is gay, you're are an @ss for thinking you have the right to form an opinion of the character without seeing it first.

I agree w/ most of the comments on here...never once did I see Duckie as gay. I saw this movie in the theater & it's been my favorite for years. Who started this crap? If it was Molly, we are gonna have words!

It never once entered my mind Duckie was gay. He was so pitifully gaga over Molly in the movie. I also wondered if his dad was Steve Lawrence because he so looks like him! Over the years this movie still has a place in my heart!

How did anyone ever get "gay" from Duckie's following after Andie, hitting on her nonstop, and basically being her puppy? I loved Duckie, he was my favorite character in the movie and the scene with him lipsyncing is still one of my all time favorite scenes in any movie. Duckie is the reason I have watched anything with Jon Cryer.

i had a crush on Duckie. He was not gay. At the end, he is quite excited to have the blond girl staring at him and he is hopeful to get to know her. How annoying this article is. Makes zero sense to me.

Huh? Wasn't part of the whole movie dealing with his unrequinted love for Andie (Molly Ringwald's character)? I've seen this movie dozens of times since I was about 6 or 7 and never once did it pass through my head that his character was gay. In fact I've always been disappointed that Andie and Duckie didn't get together since anyone with half a brain could see that Duckie was ten times the man that loser Blaine was. Could someone who actually thought his character was gay explain to me how they came to the conclusion when watching that movie? I'm just confused where all this came from.

Agreed. I think everyone was mistaking Duckie being a complete PUSSY for him being GAY. There's a difference.

I never thought that while watching the film. He was following the female lead character like a love sick puppy. Where did this come from?

Uhh... what? I've only seen it once, but isn't the whole damn movie about him being in love with Molly Ringwald's character?
