Jon Stewart Critiques President Obama in 'Daily Show' Interview (VIDEO)

by Oliver Miller, posted Oct 28th 2010 3:30AM

Jon Stewart Critiques President Obama in 'Daily Show' InterviewWhen Barack Obama ran for president, his slogan was "YES WE CAN!" On 'The Daily Show' (weeknights, 11PM ET on Comedy Central), Jon Stewart criticized Obama's year and a half in office -- and offered a replacement slogan: "Yes we can, given certain conditions, blah blah blah ... blah blah."

During a historic 30-minute interview, Obama and Stewart argued -- but the pair also agreed about many things. Still, the host didn't let the president off easily. Jon critiqued Obama's attempts to reform the national health care system, calling the president's efforts "timid."

This led to a stern answer from the commander-in-chief: "I have a profound disagreement with you." Stewart said he hadn't suggested reform was "inconsequential." Obama shot back with a sarcastic response: "The suggestion was that it was 'timid.'"

It was odd, watching the president duke it out with a "fake news" host. But then, Stewart was named "the most influential man of 2010" in a recent poll. And Obama was ranked a full twenty spots lower in the poll than Stewart. So maybe the president had something to prove.

Jon kept up the criticism, saying Obama had made too many compromises. He added that by compromising, Obama had covered up a political system that was intrinsically "corrupt." But if Jon was honest, his guest was refreshingly candid as well. "That -- I think -- is fair," the president said in reply.

Obama was proud of his achievements, saying he had brought health care to millions who didn't have it before. He argued that Jon was impatient -- as there were many things that needed to be fixed. The president ended by suggesting another alternate slogan: "'Yes We Can' -- But It Is Not Gonna Happen Overnight."

Reading some these comments makes me glad to be Canadian ... there is no intelligent discourse here. And people who try to interact peacefully and intelligently get drowned out by bigots who don't know how to spell. Reading all these comments makes me sad ... so much hate and idiocy.

The day the Democrats took control was not January 22nd 2009 it was actually January 3rd 2007.

That's the day the Democrats took over the House of Representatives and the Senate, the start of the 110th Congress. The Democratic Party controlled a
majority in both chambers for the first time since the end of the 103rd Congress in 1995.

For those who are listening to the liberals propagating the fallacy that everything is "Bush's Fault", think about this:

January 3rd, 2007 was the day the Democrats took over the Senate and the Congress:

At the time:

The DOW Jones closed at 12,621.77

The GDP growth for the previous quarter was 3.5%

The Unemployment rate was 4.6%

George Bush's and the Republican Congress' Economic policies SET A RECORD of 52 STRAIGHT MONTHS of JOB CREATION!

Remember the day...
January 3rd, 2007 was the day that Barney Frank took over the House Financial Services Committee and Chris Dodd took over the Senate Banking

The economic meltdown that happened 15 months later was in what part of the economy? BANKING AND FINANCIAL SERVICES!!!

THANK YOU DEMOCRATS for taking us from 13,000 DOW, 3.5 GDP growth and 4.6% Unemployment... to this CRISIS by (among MANY other things) dumping 5-6
TRILLION Dollars of toxic loans on the economy from YOUR Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac FIASCOS! (BTW: Bush asked Congress 17 TIMES to stop Fannie & Freddie starting in 2001 because it was financially risky for the US economy).

And who took the THIRD highest pay-off from Fannie Mae AND Freddie Mac after Barney Frank and Chris Dodd????

And who fought against reform of Fannie and Freddie???

OBAMA and the Democratic Congress

So when someone tries to blame Bush...

Bush may have been in the car but the Democrats were in charge of the gas pedal and steering wheel and they were driving when the economy went into the ditch.

I'm hugely disappointed in Obama. You see, his next move will be being proud of one of his daughters doing stupid things on TV such as dancing in a gorilla suit.

You definitely "told it like it is" - don't honestly believe it can be said any better....my hat is definitely off to you....the internet allows equal opportunity for those who want to to be downright ignorant, disrespectful and extremely immature.

You Americans are a bunch of frickin' KIDS! All of you! White, Black, Red, Blue--CHILDREN! Fighting over a box of Crayons!! Bring on the Clowns! Tired of RED Administration, you vote for change. BLUE takes over and IMMEDIATELY starts the process to 'change' America...BLUE does it in volumes--despite intense resistance from the Loser REDs. You all want change, you're getting change, but you're still not happy with the changes, or you're not happy that the changes are taking so loooong or even happy with the fact that change is even starting to happen at all! When the President ENCOURAGES you--'Yes We Can! We ARE doing it! Let's keep moving forward--not backward'...you condemn him! WTHell? America has become a "DRIVE-THRU" Country...immediate gratification. You want what you want and you want it NOW! Spoiled Brats behave that way. America's problems took years and years of corporate corruption 'taking a crap' in the big toilet of government and NOBODY cleaning up after their own sh--. Toilet broke--but it's the only toilet--so people keep using it--the sh-- is piling up...NOBODY likes the stench--yet NOBODY wants to clean it up. Joe the Plumber doesn't even want to step up... So you all vote for the black guy to go clean up the white guys' piles and piles of sh--, and he just can't clean it up fast enough for any of you! Instead of helping him clean up the sh--, you all stand around watching, judging, demanding, condemning...basically exacerbating the situation even more. On 9/11 buildings were destroyed. How long did it take to clean up the destruction? oh waaaait a minute... they're still cleaning up! Haven't even started re-building! You folks are still arguing about it! But even MORE importantly--people's lives were lost; How long is that going to take to re-build? Any takers? No? alrighty then--STOP your incessant whining, CHILDREN, and GROW UP AMERICA!! Most of the world is rooting for you...maybe that's what you folks need to do--go back to your 'roots'... "United We Stand--Divided We Fall".

Even the libs are starting to go against him. I sent him an email yesterday signed by myself and a couple of friends. Aside from the disaster he's made of this country, the horrible health care bill, the list goes on and on, we want to know why he, his wife and Biden are running all over the country, on my tax dollars, campaigning for all the Dems running for re-election? His and Biden's jobs are to stay in DC and try to fix the mess they've made of this country. What his wife's job is, I haven't a clue.
But, he is SUPPOSED to be the pres of the all the country, not just the Dems, even if he doesn't like that. They have no business spending millions to try to elect Dems. If they're doing this on our money, and they are, the money they raise should be splilt between both parties. He IS the Pres, as much as I hate saying it, of both parties! I would love to know how many millions they've spent raising millions!
