Michelle Obama Speaks Out on America's 'Culture of Bullying' (VIDEO)

by Donald Deane, posted Oct 28th 2010 11:00AM
On 'The Ellen DeGeneres Show' (weekdays, syndicated), First Lady Michelle Obama speaks out on the culture of bullying in America and offers several solutions for protecting our children.

"The kinds of things that happen in politics and on television, if you're watching it, it's bullying every single day," said Ellen DeGeneres, pointing out that bullying is pervasive in politics and pop culture.

"We've developed a culture of bullying in so many ways," Obama said. "We need to start sending different messages to our kids. First of all, we need to let them know that it does get better ... But it's also up to us as the adults in the room to create the safe environments for our kids."

"You turn on the television and all you see are people judging other people, and people being negative and being so nasty. And I think we have to act as a role model," DeGeneres agreed.
