Denzel Washington Faces Off Against Reggie Jackson in Yankees Trivia on 'The Tonight Show' (VIDEO)

Denzel Washington, 'The Tonight Show'You never know what might be revealed during a fun late-night segment. With Reggie Jackson and Denzel Washington as guests on 'The Tonight Show' (Weeknights, 11:35PM on NBC), Jay Leno set up a trivia challenge between the two superstars about the New York Yankees. Washington is a huge fan, and Jackson is a legendary Yankee.

What he got instead was a loot at how incredibly intense and competitive Washington gets when in a competition. We'd hate to sit across from the table from him in Scrabble, and not just because he knew how many "Ts" were in Andy Pettitte's name.

Washington was pacing around the stage, and mashing his button even before Leno could finish his questions. At one point, he even assumed the wrong question, hitting his buzzer before Leno had even finished asking it.n for it!

Leno wisely refused to finish the question after Washington hit the button, but Washington got it right anyway. Billy Martin was both fired from the Yankees five times and coached for them five times, though we admit that does make logistical sense.

Reggie Jackson seemed to get quieter and quieter as the game progressed. Finally, when the two hit their buttons simultaneously on the final question, Jackson acquiesced and allowed Washington to answer first, and he got it right. His prize? A 40-year old candy bar. Our prize? Not seeing what might have happened if Washington had lost.

Next time, we hope Leno has Jim Parsons on with him and they have a rock-paper-scissors-lizard-spock competition. Actually, we want Washington competing from now on in every television appearance. The man has a true passion for it.
