['It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia' - 'Who Got Dee Pregnant?']
Don't let the title of this episode mislead you, 'IASIP' fans -- since when has this series ever answered a question so easily? We're torn between comparing this madcap Halloween caper to 'The Hangover' or to 'Memento,' but either way, someone put a bun in Sweet Dee's oven, and we're itching to discover who that brave adventurer might be.
Halloween is always an excuse for drunken debauchery and slutty costumes, but we can't quite decide which of the gang's offerings was our favorite.
Mac passed up the comedic costume choice of Mario (thereby screwing Dennis and his not-so-sexy Luigi ensemble) in favor of attempting to portray Viggo Mortensen's Aragorn from 'The Lord of the Rings,' even if he wasn't quite sure what to call himself. Charlie was equally confused, dressing as the Phantom of the Opera but mistaking himself for a vampire with a very questionable accent.
Frank tried to shake things up as Spider-Man -- excuse us, Man-Spider -- while Dee's attempt at being a slutty angel failed entirely, since the rest of the gang were determined to continue their tradition of comparing her to a bird. (On that note: How amazing was Mac's recollection of the party, in which he saw Dee as a literal ostrich? Oh, to be inside his head on a day-to-day basis ...)
Some of our old favorites made an appearance at the gang's Halloween party, such as the creeptastic McPoyles, Artemis and the waitress -- albeit only in Charlie's head, since he actually tried to make out with a complete stranger in his drunken state, while the waitress apparently ignored Charlie's 100 or so invitations. After being tongue-tackled by Artemis, we couldn't blame Charlie for having a meltdown about the irresistible allure of his Phantom costume and deciding to switch with Dennis, although how someone of Dennis' height would ever fit into a Charlie-sized costume is anyone's guess -- the magic of the tellybox!
Artemis and Frank introduced the disgusting -- but intriguing -- concept of dumpster humping, and now I'm inevitably drawn to contemplating just what Artemis was trying to do with the burger bun during coitus; now that's a scary Halloween thought.
What was more disturbing, though, was the prospect of Mac having sex with the McPoyles' deaf-mute sister Margaret, who reminded me eerily of Abed from 'Community' with her weird lizard tongue action. But since the McPoyles are all about the incest, they seemed to fit in well with the seemingly inevitable high point of the episode: The moment when Dennis believed that he was the one to have had sex with Dee and was thus the father of his sister's child. Vomit ahoy!
Luckily (or unluckily, for those of us who like to see Dennis squirm) it turned out that Dee had been lying about the father being one of the gang the entire time, just to get back at them for their constant mockery and bird comparisons.
Though I'm not so sure that I trust Dennis' memory of sleeping with the peacock, a part of me still isn't entirely convinced that the old costume switch between Charlie and Dennis, and Dee and peacock girl, didn't result in a little sibling fondling -- we wouldn't put it past 'Sunny' to go there.
But Dennis is innocent until proved guilty, so for now we'll just have to speculate who Dee's unwitting baby-daddy is -- any guesses? All I can say is that if the folks from 'Raising Hope' look like unfit parents, we can't wait until the 'IASIP' gang have to try and take care of a baby; someone ought to call Child Protective Services in advance ...
'It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia' airs Thursdays at 10PM ET on FX.
