Michael Caine Says the Papparazzi Ruined It All for Actors Like Charlie Sheen (VIDEO)

by Jason Hughes, posted Oct 29th 2010 4:48AM
Michael Caine, 'The Late Late Show With Craig Ferguson'Craig Ferguson has an uncanny ability to get celebrities onto the most unlikely of topics. Starting with a harmonica and channeling through Charlie Sheen's most recent sex scandals, Ferguson explored the differences between the Cockneys and the Scottish with guest Michael Caine. And they did this through the discussion of prostitutes. Only on 'The Late Late Show' (Weeknights, 12:37AM on CBS) is this not unusual in the slightest.

Caine explained that he believes celebrities have always gotten into as much trouble as they do now, only now "they get caught more."

He described it as a much simpler time before the likes of 'Star' and 'Entertainment Tonight. "You could do what you like," he said. "And then the papparrazzi came along and spoiled it all."

Even when pressed, Caine insisted he'd never been with a hooker himself. "I was always so conceited," he explained. "I couldn't pay for it. Actors are very [conceited]. 'She should be paying me.'"

Ferguson suggested that it might be frugality that kept Caine away from the ladies of the night, but Caine insisted that it is Ferguson's own Scottish people who are frugal. "I'm Cockney. We're generous people, Cockneys," he said. But then he elaborated further. "Cockneys are generous because they haven't got anything. So there's nothing to give away."

Ferguson accepted the frugality of his people, and said it painted a bleak picture of Scotsmen refusing to hire prostitutes. "I'll just stay home and take care of myself," they'd declare.

While other late night talk shows feature guests that do little more than relate anecdotal stories about their kids or dogs, and then plug their movie, guests on 'The Late Late Show' will get into deep discussions about how different peoples handle their most personal desires. It truly is the most unpredictable talk show on television.

sheen brought this upon himself. He's a degenerate lowlife. I'm so sick of these shallow morally degenerate celebrities defending their own no matter what hideous behavior they engage in. Michael cane, you old has-been and the rest of hollywood, stop complaining about your petty little issues with photographers. What would you do if you had real problems? BTW, what kind of an "actor" is sheen that it was ruined for him?

People, seriously take a reading comprehension course and/or pay better attention to the clip. Caine isn't excusing Sheen's behavior. He said back in the day actors/celebrities behaved just as bad as they do now, except that thanks to the paparazzi the people know about it.

THIS IS EXACTLY WHATS WRONG WITH AOL. "Unkind words for the Paparazzi"? Really? They barely get mentioned. Most of this was barely legible taunting between a couple of Islanders. BTW, I love both of these guys. Best late night show on television and one of the greatest living actors of all time.

Unnnnnh, Mike if it wasn't for the papparazzi Sheen wouldn't be in the news any longer. His celebrity is now based on his notorious antics. It wasn't the Papparazzi that caught up with him in the hotel room, it was the police

This thing with Charlie Sheen is nothing new for him; he has serious addiction problems. Don't see why Michael Caine should want to somehow excuse his behavior or blame "paparazzi" for his failings. There was no way he could get away with trashing a hotel room, anyway.

The papzis are the price you pay for making 1.6 mill. an episode. If there's anything more un-nerving it's these cream-puff-panty-waist so called stars blaming their self-destructing, vapid lives on flashbulbs .

If there wasn't a demand for this "garbage, there wouldn't be a "supply". Same with all the drugs that come into this country or that are manufactured.

Ferguson is fabulous-
He's the one night person I would love to meet and talk to-
I have read his book and he's one of "us"...
A man of greater distinction that Letterbox and Lendo
..Fallon is funny but not up to IT...Chelsea Lately is hot hot hot and one of "us" but does not know it yet...Kathy has the sexiest legs....but scares me..
Oh well...Have a lovely day

Michael Caine, must have been a troublemaker in his early days and needed someone to blame. I barely, remember him. It's the wrong way to get publicity but blame the right one. The media wouldn't lie. I'm least interested in the likes of Caine and Sheen
