The Show Girl Previews 'Great Migrations,' 'Walking Dead' & 'Running Russell Simmons' (VIDEO)

by Maggie Furlong, posted Oct 29th 2010 10:00AM

Every once in a while, a show comes along that proves TV can actually be educational. This week, I preview one of those shows, 'Great Migrations.' National Geographic's new 7-part special is full of breathtaking footage of animals all around the globe and fun facts. Like what, exactly, is this animal?

I also have scoop on AMC's 'The Walking Dead,' straight from the show's zombie-killing cast. Are you pumped for this new series? Tell me why in the comments and you could win some cool limited edition 'Walking Dead' freebies.

Then I check in with Russell Simmons -- the man behind Def Jam, Phat Farm, various charities and hip-hop site GlobalGrind.com (not to mention some very entertaining tweets) -- and the ladies behind his businesses to hear about their new show 'Running Russell Simmons.'

Got questions? E-mail me TV questions at TheTVShowGirl@aol.com and I'll try to get you answers on the show. -- By Maggie Furlong

Why am I excited for The Walking Dead series? Little Carl Grimes becoming one hell of a pistol-toting [eventually] sharp shooter.

Starting with the mastermind behind the flesh eating craze. George A. Romero has created a cult phenomenon that will pass on through the generations. With the past decade just rekindling the original spine tingling, flesh crawling terror, it was only a matter of time before the comic book "The Walking Dead" just added a new outlet for all of us horror fanatics. AMC is definitely carrying that torch to the outer limits. Bravo. Can't wait for next week's episode, and of course the series to go onto DVD. Yes!!!

I'm excited for Walking Dead because the comics are incredible and the story line always leaves me wanting to read more. I've been waiting months for tonight's premiere, and I can't wait to watch the story come to life (or...death?).

I'm excited because I love the whole zombie genre, and from what I've heard from friends who have seen the first two episodes, they really nailed the atmosphere one would expect during the rise of zombies. Also, Sarah Wayne Callies back on my TV, can't wait!

I'm pumped because i've been a huge fan of the story for a long time now, and to see such a great crew getting together to put on what looks to be the much needed zombie series we've all been waiting for is just truly awesome!

Walking Dead will definitely be awesome. I previewed the first episode, and it blew me away. It's tense and heartbreaking. These are the types of things that are truly scary, not slasher films.

I'm stoked, as the comic is amazing, and since we saw the first trailers and photos, I was so excited for this to arrive. And here it is.

I was super stoked to heat that a show was gonna be made based on "The Walking Dead". I started reading the comic a few years back,Then started buying the graphic novels. The only comic I have purchased in over 20+ years!I heart it because its not just a zombie story, Its a story about the people and the way stress affects there relationships with each other. On AMC none the less! By the guys that gave us "Breaking Bad"so you already know they are not afraid to be a little edgy. My count down till airtime has already begun!

I've been excited about this show since I first began reading on it several months ago. Been having zombie dreams, been seeing zombies as a metaphor for the brain dead walkers all around us. Just glad the trick or treaters will be finished by the time this airs.
