What to Watch: November 1 - 7

Supernanny - Friday November 5, 8PM ET/PT, Citytv/ABC

Back when Jo Frost was new to the airwaves, I really liked this show. I didn't have kids then, still don't now, but she was like an early proto-Cesar Millan -- her supreme confidence and lovely accent made her a pleasure to watch. And I'm sure all of this is still true, but I had completely forgotten this show has still being made. A new season debuts tonight.

SNL Special: The Women of SNL - Monday November 1, 8PM ET/PT, NBC/Global

There's something off about the timing of this special... like maybe it should have aired to coincide with one of Tina Fey's 'Vanity Fair' covers or something, but I suppose a little credit for the women of 'SNL' is welcome anytime. This special features original material from the likes of Rachel Dratch, Nora Dunn, Tina Fey, Ana Gasteyer, Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Laraine Newman, Cheri Oteri, Amy Poehler, Maya Rudolph, Molly Shannon, and current (and incredibly hilarious) cast member Kristen Wiig.

Ghost Hunters
- Monday November 1, 6PM ET/ OLN

The sixth season of the show finally brings Jason and Grant, plumbers by day, to some of the most renowned haunted sites in the US, including Alcatraz prison in the San Francisco Bay. I'm not really a fan of these types of shows generally, with the cheap camera tricks that are supposed to scare you, but anyone brave enough to go into Alcatraz at night has my respect -- that place is seriously creepy.

John Witherspoon: You Got to Coordinate - Saturday November 6, 10PM ET/PT Comedy

John Witherspoon has been at it for years -- you probably know him as Ice Cube's dad in the 'Friday' series of films, or maybe you saw him in 'House Party,' 'Vampire in Brooklyn' or a Jay-Z video. He was an original cast member of 'The Richard Pryor Show' and David Letterman is the godfather of his son, and yet this is Witherspoon's first one-hour stand-up special. It aired on Showtime last year and finally makes its way north tonight.
