Comedian Zach Galifianakis: I Was a Teenage HitchhikerTake a look at the photo to your right. Would you give this man a ride in your car? Sure you would! The amiable grin, the fuzzy beard, the lovable "teddy-bear-ish" demeanor ... what could possibly go wrong? What indeed?

Comic Zach Galifianakis is starring in the new film 'Due Date,' along with Robert Downey Jr. It's a buddy flick about two men traveling on the open road. And on 'The Daily Show' (weeknights, 11PM ET on Comedy Central), Zach talked about some real life road trips of his own.

Galifianakis used to hitchhike as a teen in college -- and he made some very questionable decisions. For instance, while trying to thumb down a ride, Zach would hold up a sign -- which read as follows: "I DON'T HAVE A GUN."

We don't mean to criticize, but it seems like this would have the opposite of the intended effect ... and just freak people out. Maybe it's better to avoid mentioning guns at all in this context. But amazingly, the sign worked -- Zach would get rides. Still, there was some weird behavior from the drivers as well. The comedian may have been fondled at several points during his hitchhiking career. Zach looked to Jon Stewart for clarification. "A hand on a thigh?" he said to the host. "What does that mean?"

Jon tried to help out. "Well, it can be a comforting gesture." See, if Zach hadn't announced that he was unarmed, the drivers might have been more wary. Or at least less ready to offer that type of "comfort."

I don't find this guy funny, but he is evidently the new "it" comic. I won't be going to any of his movies. Will Ferrell is a thousand percent funnier.
