How many toes is too many toes? That sounds like a tongue-twister, but it's actually not one. It's just an issue that came up on Jimmy Kimmel Live' (weeknights, 12AM ET on ABC), when 'Grey's Anatomy' star Ellen Pompeo was the guest.

It has long been rumored that Ellen has six toes on either one or both of her feet. This equals a total of eleven or twelve "little piggies," depending on which theory you believe. So tonight, Jimmy Kimmel tried to solve the con-"toe"-versy.

First, the host learned that Ellen's sister had helped to spread the rumor. That's not cool! Unless the rumor is true, in which case her sister is just doing us all a public service. Jimmy then held up a photo which seemed to show that Ellen did have six toes on one foot. Even Ms. Pompeo was confused by it.

So did Ellen have six toes ... or not?

In order to learn the truth, Kimmel offered to do an on-air investigation. Excellent! That should end the debate. Unfortunately, the actress was wearing high-heeled shoes with a thick fishnet covering. This completely obscured her toes -- almost as if she had something to hide.

But then, Pompeo said she would let Jimmy do a sexy "private" investigation, as the crowd hooted salaciously in the background. Well-played, the both of you! Ellen got to duck the issue, and Kimmel got to check out the actress at his leisure.
